Picser - Image & Photo Viewer
Picture Browser, Tags & EXIF
Only for Mac
Free · In-App Purchases
See the current folder and its full path at a glance, and manage tags in Settings with a new list that supports multiple selection.
Picser is a native macOS image viewer that works right in your folders. No library, no importing: open a folder to browse, zoom in, pick your best shots and tag images where they already are.
BROWSE
• Open a single image, several images or a whole folder: drag and drop, open from Finder or the Dock, or use Open Recent
• Switch between the sidebar list, bottom filmstrip and grid browser
• Scroll to zoom around the pointer, drag to pan and use the minimap to see where you are
• Press Space for Quick Preview, or go Immersive Full Screen
• Sort by name, date modified, date created, size or format, and jump to the previous or next folder
• Select multiple images to copy them, move them to another folder or move them to the Bin
• Rotate and mirror images for viewing without changing the originals
• Supports JPEG, PNG, GIF, HEIC/HEIF, TIFF, WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL and SVG. RAW is not supported yet.
PRO FEATURES
The following features require Pro:
• Culling: press P to pick, X to reject or U to clear the mark. Show picks only or hide rejects, then move every rejected image to the Bin in one step.
• Tags: tag with number keys 1–9, get autocomplete as you type and add colours. Tag every selected image at once.
• Filters: filter by file name, tags and colours. Include or exclude each tag, and save the conditions you use often as filter presets.
• Tag management: search, rename, merge and add tags in bulk, and run a Tag Health Check.
• Crop: crop freely or to a preset or custom aspect ratio.
• Export: after rotating, mirroring or cropping, export as JPEG, PNG, HEIC or TIFF, or overwrite the original.
• EXIF: see camera, lens, exposure and GPS details in the sidebar.
• Slideshow: play images at 1–10 second intervals, with optional looping.
Pro is available as a yearly subscription with a 7-day free trial or as a lifetime licence. Both include exactly the same features.
PRIVACY
No account needed. Tags, filter presets and Pick / Reject marks stay on your Mac. They are never written into your image files or uploaded.
Available in English, Simplified Chinese and Japanese, with customisable keyboard shortcuts.

more Shows the current folder and its full path, adds a multi-select tag list in Settings > Tags, and scales thumbnails with the sidebar.
Added
• Added the current folder name at the top of the sidebar (to the left of "Filter by tags" in the filmstrip layout). Hover over or click it to see the full path, then choose "Copy Path" or "Show in Finder". With several folders open, each one is listed, and the window title now shows the folder name.
• Added "Manage Tags…" to the filter panel, the tag editor's context menu, and the Image menu in the menu bar, so you can open Settings > Tags directly.
Changed
• Settings > Tags now manages tags in a list: ⌘- or ⇧-click to select several, press ⌘A to select all, and use the context menu or the buttons below the list on the selection. Select a tag and press Return to rename it. This replaces "Batch mode".
• Click "+" below the list to create a tag, or separate names with commas to create several at once. This replaces the "Add Multiple Tags" window.
• Renaming a tag to an existing name now offers to merge the two, and merging tags now lets you pick which selected tag to keep instead of typing the target name.
• Tag colours are now "No Color" plus 10 preset colours. Existing custom colours still appear and still work in filters.
• Filter presets can now be reordered by dragging in Settings, no longer jump to the top when applied, and can be selected and deleted together.
• Confirmations for deleting tags, clearing assignments, and cleaning up unused tags now explain what will happen. Results from Settings > Tags now appear only in the Settings window instead of the main window.
• Thumbnails in the list and grid on the left now scale with the sidebar width and are no longer cropped when it's narrow. Tags on thumbnails now match the file name style and fit the tag name.
• "Filter by tags" and the selection summary above the filmstrip now share one row, leaving more room for the filmstrip.
• In Simplified Chinese, "Copy Files" and "Copy to Folder…" now use the same wording as macOS.
Fixed
• Fixed filter presets and window filters that used a merged tag no longer working after the merge and showing all images.
• Fixed "Also remove tags no longer in use" deleting every unused tag, including newly created ones, when you deleted multiple images.
• Fixed incorrect plurals such as "1 tags" in the English interface.
Removed
• Removed the feedback banner, "View History" and "Refresh" from Settings > Tags. The list now updates automatically when you change tags in any window.
3.1.1 4 hr ago
Tag many images at once, fixed number keys, tag autocomplete, and include / exclude filters (requires Pro), plus smoother zooming and sharper image switching.
Added
• Added tag autocomplete, which suggests matching tags as you type and recommended tags before you start. Use commas to add several tags at once.
• The Tag Health Check in Settings > Tags now lists records on disconnected drives by drive, so you can remove old records left behind after a memory card is formatted.
Changed
• With multiple images selected, number keys, the tag editor, and context menus now apply tags to every selected image, just like Pick and Reject. Messages show how many images changed.
• Number keys 1–9 now keep fixed tags instead of being reordered by use. New tags fill empty keys, and you can right-click a tag in the tag editor and choose "Assign Number Key".
• The tag editor is now two rows. With multiple images selected, it shows all their tags, marks tags that only some images have with a count like "2/5", and adds a tag to all of them with one click.
• The filter panel now lets you include or exclude each tag, so you can filter for combinations like "Portrait but not Outtakes". The panel is simpler, and tag filters are now separate for each window.
• Zooming with a mouse wheel now uses a spring animation, so continuous scrolling feels smoother.
• Reworded the English, Chinese, and Japanese interface to be more direct and consistent with macOS terms.
Fixed
• Fixed slight jitter while zooming with a mouse wheel, and regular mice barely zooming with the scroll wheel.
• Fixed the main image looking blurry for a moment after switching images, then subtly sharpening after it appeared, and fixed blurry thumbnails.
• Fixed images on a second memory card with the same name picking up the first card's tags and Pick / Reject marks.
• Fixed memory cards failing to eject in Finder after you viewed their images.
• Fixed the Tag Health Check failing every time after you moved tagged images in Finder.
• Fixed the Delete button in the toolbar deleting only the current image when multiple images were selected.
• Fixed website pages from Picser opening in your browser's language instead of Picser's, plus a few icon, translation, and VoiceOver issues.
Performance
• Switching images no longer lags in folders with 10,000 or more images, even after selecting many or all of them.
• More images you've viewed are sharp right away when you go back to them, and full-size images now decode in the background, so the interface no longer hitches.
Removed
• Removed the "Delete all N filtered results" button from the filter panel. Press ⌘A to select the filtered images, then delete them. Filter presets in Settings are now applied from the filter panel.
3.1.0 13 Oct
Picser 3.0 brings Pick and Reject culling (requires Pro) and a new app icon.
Added
• Added Pick and Reject marks for culling: press P to pick, X to reject or U to clear, and mark several selected images at once. Thumbnails show a Pick or Reject badge, and rejected images are dimmed.
• Added a Pick Filter with All Images, Picks Only and Hide Rejects. It works together with tag filters.
• Added a way to move all rejected images to the Bin in one step when you finish culling.
• Added an optional "Move to next image after marking" setting.
• Added a Picser mark that blinks and looks towards your pointer to the welcome screen and "About Picser".
Changed
• Picser has a new app icon. It keeps the familiar white P and blue tones, adds an orange dot inside the P that looks towards the next image, and stays crisp at small sizes.
• The Tag Health Check now removes missing records only after you confirm, so tags on disconnected external or network drives are no longer deleted by mistake.
• When a filter hides the current image, Picser now moves to the nearest image after it instead of jumping back to the first one.
• The Settings window and the purchase panel now resize to fit their content.
• Merging tags is now faster after you've browsed many images.
Fixed
• Fixed an issue where the "All Tags" filter sometimes showed images that didn't have every selected tag.
• Fixed an issue where opening a folder in one window made tags disappear in other windows.
• Fixed a tag sync message appearing every time a folder was opened.
• Fixed an issue where folders couldn't be selected in "Open Image/Folder".
• Fixed menu items not showing ticks or keyboard shortcuts.
• Fixed the shortcut recorder not recording keys on macOS 26 and 27.
Performance
• Merging tags no longer ties up the tag library for long, so tagging and Pick and Reject marks don't have to wait.
3.0.0 7 Oct
New
• Added a Japanese interface. Choose "日本語" in Settings, or Picser switches to Japanese automatically when your system language is Japanese.
• Browse AVIF, JPEG XL and HEIF images with folder scanning, sorting, thumbnails, Quick Preview and EXIF info. After cropping or rotating, you can export a copy; overwriting the original isn't supported yet (export requires Pro).
Improvements
• Language options now always appear in their own language, such as English, 简体中文 and 日本語, whatever the interface language.
• .tif files now show TIFF as the format name in EXIF info.
Fixes
• Fixed the rating hint at the bottom of the About page in Settings being cut off to a single line in the English and Japanese interfaces.
2.8.0 26 Sept
New
• Unified image selection across all three thumbnail layouts: click, Command-click to add or remove, Shift-click for a range, Command-A to select all and Esc to clear.
• Copy to Folder and Move to Folder: keep, skip or replace files with the same name, follow progress, cancel remaining items, or retry only the failed ones.
• Press Command-C to copy selected image files and paste them straight into Finder.
• Set a disk cache size limit (256 MB to 2 GB) and automatically clear items not used in the last 7, 30 or 90 days.
Improvements
• Selected thumbnails now show a tick in the bottom-right corner and a light tint, while a blue border marks the image being previewed. Arrow keys switch images without clearing a multiple selection.
• Batch delete can cancel items that haven't started, summarises succeeded, failed and skipped items, and lets you retry only the failures.
• The tag editor tags all selected images at once. When copying, you can keep Picser tags, and tags follow files when moved (requires Pro).
• Cache settings now list the disk metadata cache, memory image cache and directory permissions separately, and explain that clearing never deletes your original images.
Fixes
• Fixed an issue where the item count in the batch delete menu could differ from the confirmation sheet.
Performance
• Cache size and age checks run in the background without slowing down launch or browsing.
Security
• If moving to the Bin fails, Picser no longer falls back to permanent deletion. Files are permanently deleted only when you explicitly choose to.
2.7.0 24 Sept
Fixes
• Fixed an issue where scroll-wheel handling blocked the crop controls, leaving the crop handles, aspect ratio, Save and Cancel unresponsive.
2.6.2 30 Aug
New
• Picser has a brand-new app icon.
• For images opened externally, choose “Reuse Current Window” or “Always Open New Window” to keep existing windows for side-by-side comparison.
Improvements
• Optimised loading and caching for smoother image switching, slideshows, and large-image zooming.
• Improved language switching, control layout, and toolbar menus in Settings.
Fixes
• Fixed an issue where opening images externally could wake a minimised empty window.
2.6.1 31 Jul
This update focuses on faster tagging, smoother folder permissions and more stable browsing:
• Faster tag workflows: recent tags, common tags and 1-9 quick-tag shortcuts let you add or remove tags from thumbnails, the image context menu and the tag editor.
• Clearer tag colours: assign, clear or batch-adjust preset colours, then see those colour cues across tag lists, filters and thumbnail markers.
• Better filtering and management: filter by colour, save smart filters and use a cleaner Tag Settings layout for stats, management, batch actions and inspections.
• Smoother single-image opening: when loading images from the same folder, choose the current folder, a broader parent folder or only the selected image. Previously granted parent folders are reused when possible.
• Fixed a possible blank Settings window after switching from Dark to Light appearance, and improved toolbar icons and Pro badges when a window is inactive.
• Fixed Quick Preview flicker when holding Space, refined entitlement saving and improved subscription grace-period copy to reduce repeated prompts and unnecessary writes.
