Monologue is voice dictation that writes the way you talk—so your messages, emails, and notes come out clear, polished, and sounding like you.
Write what you meant to say
Most dictation apps get the words down. Monologue gets the intent right—matching your tone (casual, professional, or anything in between) and cleaning up the “uhs,” filler, and awkward phrasing automatically.
What you’ll get
- Smart formatting: Clean structure for what you’re writing (no cleanup pass).
- Personal dictionary: Names, acronyms, and your vocabulary remembered automatically.
- Flexible modes: Choose how Monologue writes (email, docs, notes, code) and tailor it to your workflows.
- Multilingual by default: Dictate in 100+ languages and switch naturally.
Privacy is built in
- No audio files or transcripts are saved on our servers.
- Zero LLM data retention.

Very good effort for the iOS app. I have been using the Mac app for around 3 months, and coming to the iOS format on iPhone is very handy. The notes feature from a quick record functionality is a very useful feature that is very much appreciated (autogenerated summary note and raw transcript) and have started using very early on in this app's life cycle v1. My main improvements going forward will be the following so this app becomes perfect:* The playback functionality when revisiting notes should have a speed player so that it can be adjusted to whatever speed rather than the default natural speed. I've noticed when I've shared the audio that it does work when you link and click on the audio artefact say in iMessage, for example, but I think it should be native in the app where you can adjust the speed from at least 1 to 2x directly while playing back the audio * Another point that I had was in regards to the mode. Sometimes it bugs out by switching the mode but then going to a default app. So, for example, clicking on email but then it will go straight to the mail app. I think that should be slightly more streamlined and perhaps considering edge cases when there needs to be a quick redirect towards an app with a given mode attached to it.* Finally, I would say that the formatting could be a bit better when exporting the notes online via a shareable link and then pasting it in the browser as it's not well formatted as in on the iOS app. Would be a game changer to have the same standard of formatting available to notes shared in a link.Exciting start and looking forward to more updates/product releases of this brilliant speech to text app.
After iOS 26.4 changes, automatic return to your previous app may no longer work reliably. If Monologue opens during dictation, you may need to manually switch back to the app you were using to continue dictating.
Improvements:
- Dictionary Add and Remove actions are now available directly in the QWERTY keyboard layout.
- Better recovery for recordings left behind after an interruption or app restart.
- Fixed keyboard states that could sometimes get stuck during dictation.
- Live Activity pause/resume state and timer behavior are now more accurate.
- Stopping a note from the Live Activity or shortcut flow now opens the app when needed.
- Note details now remember the last tab you were viewing.
