Intake: Calorie Counter & Log
AI Food Tracker. No Account
£6.99 · In-App Purchases
Intake is a minimalist calorie tracker for people who simply want to track their food — a fair one-time purchase, no gamification, and no unnecessary nutrition advice.
What Intake can do:
* Log calories quickly and easily to support healthy weight loss
* Daily overview with your goal, consumed calories, and remaining calories
* Track meals such as breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks
* Intake AI: add food to your meals using a photo or text
* Log an AI estimate as one meal or every detected ingredient separately — each with its own weight and calories
* Correct estimates in place: adjust ingredients, calories, and portion size without rewriting
* Widgets for even faster logging
* Scan nutrition labels and let Intake AI fill in the values automatically
* Create your own recipes for quickly logging homemade meals
* Product search & barcode scanning
* Intermittent fasting
* Water tracking to help you drink enough
* Food database based on Open Food Facts
* Optional Apple Health integration for activity calories
All without an account — your data stays on your device.
Intake AI is an optional add-on for anyone who wants to log food even faster. Take a photo of your meal or describe it, and Intake AI tells you exactly which ingredients it contains and how many calories your food has. When creating your own meals, you can also scan a nutrition label — Intake AI fills in the values for you automatically.
Alternatively, you can use your own API key from ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. This includes photo logging, the text chat, and the full ingredient breakdown; correcting an estimate in place stays exclusive to Intake AI.
Intake AI is designed with generous fair use, so the feature remains reliable and affordable for everyone.

more Thank you for using Intake!
New:
• A new look for Today: refreshed, more compact and more modern, with more room for what you came for. You picked the direction in a poll on Threads.
• Ready for iPhone Duo: Intake is at home on iPhone Duo. Folded, it is the iPhone you know. Opened, it is a layout built for the whole surface.
• iPad and large screens: on large screens Intake really uses the room it has. Today, the Library and Stats have completely new layouts for it.
• Native navigation on iOS 27: Intake uses the system's own tab bar. It feels familiar, reacts faster and carries iPhone Duo with it. On iOS 26 nothing changes.
Improved:
• Siri logs weight and food: say "Log my weight in Intake" or "Log food in Intake", then the number. Siri understands decimals such as 84.3 and knows the foods from your library.
• Faster between days: moving between days runs smoother, whether you swipe or tap in the week strip, and turning the device keeps the day you were on.
Fixed in this version:
• The week strip opens on the current week and changes only when you swipe it or tap Today.
• Delete a workout in Garmin, Apple Health or another app and Intake takes it out of your burned calories.
• On iPad the scanner's camera image follows the way you hold the device, in Split View too, and photos for Intake AI arrive upright.
• Open the scanner straight from the Lock Screen or a widget and Back takes you out of the food view.
• Log your weight with Siri or on the Watch and it shows on Today right away.
• Scan a product again and Intake takes the checked values from our database.
• Titles and values in the share gallery are back in the normal text colours.

Thank you for using Intake!
New:
• Siri logs for you. Say "Log 100 g oats in Intake", "Log water in Intake", "Log my weight in Intake" or "How many calories do I have left in Intake", and start or end a fast the same way. It all runs from Siri, Spotlight and the Shortcuts app, on your own foods on the device.
• Your foods in Spotlight. Search your own foods from the home screen and land straight on the serving screen. Nothing leaves your phone.
• Swipe to remove. Rows in your favourites, recents and library go with a swipe on iOS 27. The long press still works.
• Ingredients in your order. Tap Edit in a recipe's ingredients and drag them into place.
Improved:
• Built for iOS 27: the soft fade under every bar stays soft, and layouts adapt to wider screens, with more tiles per row on an iPad and long text at a readable width.
Fixed in this version:
• With Display Zoom or large text on a smaller iPhone, a logged food could not be changed or deleted: its buttons had collapsed into a menu that did nothing. Delete, More and Save now stay visible.
2.7.0 12 Sept
Thank you for using Intake!
New:
• Share what you eat. One picture button on the day, a meal, a food, an Intake AI estimate or a body measurement opens the same sheet: pick what to share, then the card. Every card has a transparent sticker version for your Instagram story, on a photo you pick or take in Intake; an Intake AI photo estimate brings your food photo along. The whole day, a meal, a single food or your weight trend also come as 4:5 pictures.
Improved:
• The barcode scanner opens faster: the camera preview no longer holds up the app for about a second while it starts.
Fixed in this version:
• A product you sent in for review could stay listed as in review under Submissions for days after it was rejected. The list now refreshes when you open it and can be pulled down any time. Finished reviews sit in their own section, with the reviewer's reason for a rejection.
• Sending a product in now follows one clear set of rules: a name, a brand, a barcode or the no-barcode mark, and calories, fat, carbs and protein per 100 g. Nothing else is required, and the form says what is still missing.
• The week strip could open a couple of days off, so the week seemed to start midweek, and drift further after a visit to Settings. It now lands on the current week every time and straightens itself out.
2.6.3 9 Sept
Thank you for using Intake!
Fixed in this version:
• Tags on your foods could vanish after the daily library refresh. They now stay, along with hidden frequent foods and removed favourites.
• Scanning several products in a row could leave the product screen frozen for seconds or close it on its own. Saving now runs in the background, and the screen stays responsive.
• Submitting one of your own products for review left a second copy in My Products and nothing under Submissions. It now stays one product, appears under Submissions with its status, and the form says so if sending failed.
• "Create" on the add food screen logged the product, emptied the form and stayed there. It now returns to the add food screen after the add.
• Onboarding now asks Health for your date of birth and sex. It never had permission to read them before, so the form kept a default birth year.
• Switching to Health and back could stack a second refresh on the first and freeze the app for seconds. One refresh runs at a time now.
• The reset confirmation now says what really happens: it clears this device, data in iCloud stays.
• After scanning a barcode, the product screen could open completely empty. Scan results now show up reliably.
• The search spinner now floats above the list instead of pushing it down, so results no longer shift right as you tap.
• The switch between barcode and Meal Scan accepts taps on its whole surface instead of focusing the camera.
• A scanned barcode with no database match now opens as a new product instead of wrongly saying you are editing one.
New:
• Weight fields accept tenths of a gram. A pinch of salt logs as 0.5 g instead of a full gram, in entries and recipe ingredients.
• Delete iCloud data: a new button in the iCloud settings removes everything Intake stored in iCloud and switches sync off. Data on your device stays.
• Send a product in for review from the Library: create it and submit it from the same form, with the nutrition label scanner, a no-barcode option and a list of what is still missing before sending. A barcode that already exists opens that product instead.

Thank you for using Intake!
Recipes is now Library
• Favourites, your own products, recipes, routines and your submitted corrections now live in one tab. Search across all of it at once, add your own tags, sort every list, and delete products or favourites right where you see them.
Adding food, rethought
• Suggestions for this exact meal sit at the top, each with how often you have logged it. One tap adds it.
• Give a recipe a fixed meal and it becomes a routine. Your morning porridge is now one tap instead of five.
• Search now sits at the bottom where your thumb is. The camera fills the whole screen and switches between barcode scanning and Meal Scan with Intake AI.
New units
• Log any food in teaspoons, tablespoons, cups, glasses or millilitres, and in ounces and fluid ounces on imperial settings. The weight in grams always shows underneath. If a tablespoon of a product weighs more or less, correct it once and Intake remembers.
2.6.0 30 Aug
Thank you for using Intake!
Fixed in this version:
• For some products from the database, tapping a portion size logged a different one, for example 250 g instead of 330 g. The size you pick is now the size that gets logged.
• Reopening a saved entry now preselects the portion size you actually saved it with, instead of the first one sharing the same name.
• On iOS 27 the tabs at the top of food search stopped reacting to taps, which also made the barcode scanner look disabled and hard to open. Both work normally again.
2.5.2 19 Aug
Thank you for using Intake!
New in this version:
• New: Body measurements! Track waist, hip, chest, thigh, arm, and neck circumference plus body fat — with history, charts, reorderable measurement cards, Apple Health sync for waist and body fat, and an optional Today-page card.
• Shopping across the border? Under Region & Units you can now pick additional countries you shop in — products from there rank just like local ones in food search.
• Smarter food search: typos and label notation no longer lead to empty results — searches like "greek yoghurt" with a typo or "skyr 0.2% fat" now find the right products.
• Your food database country now actually shapes the ranking, so products sold where you live come first.
• Fixed: the same product no longer shows up several times in search — duplicates are collapsed into the best entry.
• Fixed: weight keeps its two decimals everywhere — 61.95 kg from Apple Health or your keyboard no longer turns into 62.0.
• Fixed: protein, carbs, and fat are shown with tenths of a gram, exactly as printed on the label — an egg's 12.6 g of protein no longer rounds up to 13 g.
• Fixed: removing a favorite now sticks — favorites no longer sneak back in through iCloud sync.
• Fixed: entries removed from the Frequent list stay removed, even if you keep logging that food.
• Improved weight statistics: past months no longer claim to show your "current" weight, the year view's lowest/highest use your real daily values, and the chart no longer pages into the future.
• Intake AI: meals with an ingredient breakdown now carry their total weight — it shows under the portion stepper, and entries can be adjusted in grams.
• Intake AI: one portion control scales the whole estimate — the full meal or every ingredient at once. Half a portion is one tap instead of editing values by hand.
• Fixed: Settings → Apple Health can re-import the last month of activity, workouts, and water in one tap — no more refreshing every day individually.
Have fun trying it out!
2.5.1 9 Aug
Thank you for using Intake!
New in this version:
• Using your own ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini API key? AI estimates now include a full ingredient breakdown — log a meal as one entry, or every ingredient separately with its own weight and calories.
• Clearer AI errors: instead of one vague message, Intake tells you whether your key was rejected, your rate limit is reached, or the provider is simply busy — and quotes what the provider said.
• Temporary provider hiccups are now retried automatically, and an overloaded Gemini model can be swapped for another one with a single tap in the chat.
• Fixed: a long AI answer that ran out of room came back as unreadable instead of suggesting a shorter message.
• Recipes can now be logged as one entry or as every ingredient separately — pick before you log, and Intake remembers your choice.
• Sort your recipes by name, date added, or calories per portion.
• Photographing a packaged product with your own API key no longer leads to a dead end — Intake estimates from what it can read on the label.
• Long food and meal names are no longer cut off after a few words.
Have fun trying it out!
2.5.0 1 Aug
Thank you for using Intake!
New in this version:
• Intake AI now explains itself: before you commit to anything, a short intro shows how AI pricing works and the choice you have — the Intake AI subscription, your own API key, or no AI at all.
• Fair and transparent: the intro shows the subscription price up front, and a new guide explains what an API key is and how to get one.
• The choice screen compares both options side by side — pick what suits you, and change your mind anytime in Settings.
• Fixed: occasional freezes when opening the food search, saving an entry, or returning to the app.
Have fun trying it out!
2.4.7 26 Jul
Thank you for using Intake!
New in this version:
• Activity entry, redesigned: pick your workout from a tidy menu and enter calories calculated from duration — or set them exactly with the new dial.
• Favourite your AI meals: save meals from Intake AI and log them again in seconds.
• Sort your favourites alphabetically, by date added, or by how often you actually log them.
• Decimal grams: enter amounts like 12.5 g everywhere — logging, recipes, and editing — without the app rounding them away.
• Refresh Apple Health: the activity card can re-read workouts and activity calories on demand, even for past days.
• Snappier food search, especially with large food and recipe libraries.
Also fixed: recipe edits no longer lose values you just typed, and workouts on past days keep their type and duration.
Have fun trying it out!
