Due to the permanent shutdown of Bose's internet radio servers, the speaker hardware can no longer play live radio on its own. Our built-in Web Radio feature requires a Bluetooth connection to your speaker. The app fetches the station to your phone and casts the audio over. All other features (Volume, Grouping, NAS, Spotify) work flawlessly over your Wi-Fi!

I don’t normally write reviews but as I have a Bose Sound Wave with two Bose smart speakers all reliant on Bose Soundtouch servers costing over a £1,000 collectively I’m beyond angry that Bose arbitrarily decides to stop a service I’ve paid handsomely for over the years. The least they could’ve done was to provide an alternative app themselves that works on local networks. I then can’t believe that this 3rd party app by John Why is being slated & that nobody else but me apparently has managed to make it work which I admit took a little ‘trial & error’ but for the princely sum of £4.99 I have my sound system back. I can listen to my favourite streaming radio stations such as Caroline Flashback & Classic FM plus both my Deezer & Spotify accounts. It’s still a work in progress fine tuning things (by me) & I’m sure further updates by John will help stabilise it further as may be required. I for one am grateful to have a very decent workaround provided by John. Thank you very much, it’s appreciated.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience—it means a massive amount to me as an independent developer.You are spot on; the previous engine required a bit too much "trial and error" due to how strictly Apple handles local network traffic. To honor the trust you put in the app, I've spent the last couple of weeks completely re-engineering the core connection architecture. Version 8.0 is officially rolling out right now to make that network link rock-solid and automatic without the tinkering. Excellent SoundTouch Replacement

This is an excellent replacement for the Bose SoundTouch app. It works smoothly, connects reliably, and overall feels far more polished than the original.There is just one small issue: whenever I open the app and it connects to my SoundTouch speaker, I hear a brief screeching noise. The same thing happens if the speaker is already playing and I open the app to control it. It doesn’t affect playback, but it’s a quirk worth investigating.Aside from that, the app performs brilliantly and a huge improvement over the official version.

Hi Backayard22, thank you so much for the fantastic review and the kind words!That brief "screeching" or beeping noise you are hearing is actually the speaker's built-in notification chime acknowledging that Controller Pro has successfully established a connection with it.The great news is that you can easily turn this off! If you are on the newest update, just tap the Settings gear icon in the app, and you will see a toggle for the "Connection Chime" (or Beep). Flip that off, and your app will connect to your speakers completely silently from now on. Thanks for your support, and enjoy the music!

Downloaded this app to use the radio stream . Nothing works, stream is always disconnected. No different to using the bose app for speakers and any other music player app.

Hi there, I understand the frustration. To clarify: Bose permanently shut down the cloud servers that the speakers used to fetch radio streams. The native Bose app can no longer play live radio either.To bypass this dead server, our app acts as the receiver. It fetches the stream to your phone, and you cast it to the speaker via Bluetooth. If the stream says 'Disconnected,' it usually means an Ad-Blocker or VPN on your phone is blocking the audio stream from downloading. Please try pausing any VPNs and ensure your phone is connected to the speaker via Bluetooth!In the Setting modal, accessed top right from main screen, there is a control at the bottom (scroll down) called 'Apple Casting Method'. Here you can choose to output the radio stream with Bluetooth or Airplay as some speaker models do not have Bluetooth. You must separately make sure your phone is connected to whichever service you want to use and then the app will work seamlessly.

When the app cannot get anything to work, it almost always means Apple's iOS security is blocking the app from seeing your Wi-Fi network.Please go to your iPhone's main Settings > Controller Pro > and turn ON 'Local Network'. If you try this and it still does not work, please contact Apple support for a full refund. We want to ensure you are either up and running, or get your money back!
