Hermex is a native iPhone and iPad client for your self-hosted Hermes agent. Connect to a reachable Hermes Web UI server, or enable the optional Bot Mode beta to connect directly to a Hermes agent host.
Open existing sessions, start conversations, and follow streamed responses, tools, and reasoning as they arrive. Queue, steer, or stop an active run. Review file edits as diffs, browse workspace files, send photos and files, and dictate messages.
Manage Kanban boards and cards, browse Tasks, Skills, Memory, and Usage, and choose models, profiles, and reasoning settings. Bot Mode adds a Bots inbox, Desktop sections, reactions, quick replies, approvals, questions, and group rooms.
Live Activities keep working runs visible on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. Optional notifications let you know when work finishes or needs your attention. The share extension stages content from other apps for you to review and send.
Agent execution happens on your configured server, not on the iPhone. Your server owns your conversations, tools, and workspace. Recent sessions and messages may be cached locally for read-only offline viewing; clear that cache from Settings.
There is no Hermex-hosted agent backend, tracking, or analytics service. Optional push notifications use an open-source, self-hostable relay. Message previews are encrypted on your Hermes host and decrypted on your iPhone; the relay handles device tokens, notification metadata, and ciphertext, never message text, server URLs, or Hermes server credentials. Push is off until enabled.
Hermex has no in-app account creation or in-app purchases. You need your own reachable Hermes server.

I’ve been using Hermex to chat with my Hermes install and it does exactly what I hoped it would. It feels fast, reliable, and has the Hermes features I’d expect without getting in the way.The main thing I wanted was an easy handoff between the desktop app and my phone, and that works really well. Being able to switch sessions from iOS is a big plus too.For a new app, it already feels polished and genuinely useful. Great work — I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes next.

Love to hear it! Thank you for the great feedback 🙌
Good app

Overall I liked it, but there are some outright fatal flaws that make it hard to use:- As soon as you switch to another app, even for 5 seconds, Hermex goes offline. Reconnecting takes time, which is very annoying.- Losing focus from the prompt input clears it. Several times I wrote prompts 10 lines long, then I needed some info from the browser, came back — and the chat input is empty! This just infuriates me!- I'd really love to have the markdown editor from the Files projects. WebUI allows this, but on iOS you either need a separate app and a Shelfish + Tailscale + Markdown Editor setup, or you have to go back to the webui in the browser.- It's impossible to send a file from an agent to the chat, view it, edit it (and save it).- Selecting and copying text directly from the chat window. Right now copying opens a separate window.I'm ready to pay money for these features!
Excellent app - mirrors hermes perfectly
PandaMagic05
Such a well thought out and written app - it picks up all the essential features and settings of hermes and presents them in a really intuitive way. Highly recommend using this above any other mobile comms with hermes
Great app

So much better than the other options right now
App lock: turn on Face ID / passcode lock in Settings.
Files: open a PDF or Office documents in app
Chat settings: try "dismiss keyboard after sending"
Live Activities improvements. (tap completed activity to dismiss)
Bot Mode (beta): password-vault and 2FA prompts, replying in room threads, and adding a Hermes host as its own server.
