I’d previously left a review saying this app wasn’t ready for a full release. That it should still be in testing. The bugs seem to have been sorted and the app is working great now for me. Definitely better than other more popular apps for learning Irish.Phrases and language used in everyday life in Ireland. Not random words that you’ll never use.One criticism is the Ulster dialect option. The voice is soul destroying 😂.

As a learner I’m not confident in my ability to critique the Irish on this, however after selecting Ulster I seem to be faced with Connaught phrases, such as “conas atá tú” as opposed to “cad é mar atá tú” and sometimes the pronunciation seems off. My biggest issue wi to the app is how it insists I’m wrong when I’m not, for example the app will ask me to say “Tá mé go hiontach, go raibh maith agat” then will transcribe how it hears me as “tá mé go hiontach go raibh maith agat” and because the app has failed include a capitol letter and an comma it it’s transcription it will insist that I’ve said it wrong, or it will insist I’ve said “Léim is ainm dom” when I’ve actually said “Liam is ainm dom”, I’m Irish so I’m confidant I know how to pronounce Liam, and the amount of times I’ve said the word Tae correctly only to have to skip that question because the app refuses to hear it. I wish the app had an option to report an issue bugs on it directly., but ultimately the app is unworkable. The app still seems to have a lot of potential and with a wee bit of improvement it could become a really useful tool and I’d be exited to try it again in future when it has hopefully fixed these issues, but as for now I have deleted the app and cancelled my subscription, I’m writing this review in the hopes that these issues are fixed.

I’ve just purchased this app and I really like the focus on speaking/repeating the vocabulary etc., and reminds me of a much more focused and purposeful Duolingo. The conversation element can take quite a bit of time to respond and can be slightly frustrating but I am sure this will be addressed. Great work folks. *Update- becoming very frustrating due to certain words not being picked up, e.g, ‘míle’ is a blocker for me. The conversation element struggles with pronunciation in a manner that’s not an issue when being asked to repeat the phrases. The AI element struggles to handle the conversation and at times just gets stuck and seems to freeze with no option available aside from closing the conversation and starting again. Hopefully, the developers are able to address as the app definitely has loads of potential.

Only just started using this app this week, but already feel like I’m learning more useful phrases than I have in six months on Duolingo. The app is really easy to use, motivating and I love the feature that helps you get the pronunciation right.
