Free
Sentinel Quick lets your installer look at your GivEnergy system while you are on the phone to them, so a fault can often be sorted without a site visit. Your readings are not shared, and nothing is changed, unless you allow it on your own screen.
It is free. There is no account, no sign-up, and no password.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Open the app on an iPhone, iPad or Mac that is on the same network as your inverter.
2. It finds the inverter on your own network and shows a six-character code.
3. Read that code to your installer.
4. Close the app when you are finished. The link goes with it.
The connection is relayed through our server over an encrypted link, so nothing has to be opened on your router.
YOU DECIDE WHAT THEY SEE
Your figures stay on your side until you tap "Allow read access (6 hours)". That opens a six-hour window and then closes itself. Tap again to stop sharing at once.
Until you do, all your installer gets is that you have connected, which inverter it is (serial and model), and any fault code the app has spotted. No power figures, no battery state, no temperatures.
YOU DECIDE WHAT THEY CHANGE
Changing a setting is a separate permission. "Allow write access (1 hour)" opens a one-hour window, and it closes itself too.
The two windows are independent. Letting someone look never lets them change anything.
Both are armed on your device and nowhere else. No installer can open a window, and neither can we.
WHAT AN INSTALLER CAN CHANGE
Only settings on a fixed allowlist built into the app, and fewer than that on some models: charge and discharge times, battery reserve, target charge, eco mode, battery configuration and the inverter clock. Everything else is refused, even while your window is open.
Grid and DNO settings can never be written, with or without your permission. That includes the G98/G99 export limit.
Every change is read back from the inverter and checked, and recorded against the named engineer, with the time and a note that you allowed it on your own device.
WHAT YOU NEED
- A GivEnergy inverter on the same network as your device.
- Nothing else. No router changes, no port forwarding, and no GivEnergy cloud login.
- Close the GivEnergy app and any other monitoring software first. The inverter accepts one local connection at a time.
PREVIEW MODE
Tap "Preview with sample data" to watch the app run on made-up figures. No inverter, no network, nothing shared. Worth a look before you need it in earnest.
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
- It does not run in the background. It works while it is open and stops when you close it.
- It is not a monitoring dashboard. Use the GivEnergy app for your day-to-day figures.
- It never asks for your GivEnergy account or password.
- No adverts, no tracking, nothing collected to sell.

- This app has not received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
• Batteries: a healthy battery no longer briefly looks disconnected because of a blank reading, cells that can't be read are no longer drawn as failed, and each battery pack appears once.
• Fewer false alarms: no "solar string producing no power" warning on AC-coupled and All-in-One systems, and no false temperature fault from an All-in-One battery reading.
• Clearer readings: the inverter's run time is shown in hours, and fault codes are shown exactly as the inverter reports them.
• Searching: you can type your inverter's address while the app is still searching, and "Search again" tells you what it found.
• 48-hour engineer access: the screen now says clearly who has access and until when, and stopping access keeps trying until it is confirmed.
• Safety: settings that live at different addresses on three-phase inverters, and the battery pause slot on systems that don't have one, are now refused instead of being written to the wrong place.
• On iPad, the live figures no longer stretch to fill the screen.
