Fixed the app closing when you start recording in movie mode on some iPhones, including iPhone 18 Pro. If a recording won't start, the app now tries again straight away with simpler settings. Tap the film-advance lever for settings: a self-timer (3 or 10 seconds) and, on iPhones that have it, high-resolution capture (up to 48 MP). You can now shoot with the volume buttons, and with Camera Control on iPhone 16 and later. On the clockwork movie cameras, hold the lever to wind the spring.

Fixed movie mode getting stuck on WARMING UP on some phones. If the camera won't start, the app now tries again with simpler settings, and if it still won't, it goes back to photo mode and lets you know. Also fixed movie-mode clips on some iPhones that had no sound or wouldn't play in Photos.

If you allow location, photos and clips now record where they were taken, just like your phone's camera, so they appear on the map in your photo library. The location stays in the file and is never sent anywhere. Movie mode, smoothed out. Zooms now glide instead of stalling, and the 24 fps film cameras really film at 24 frames a second, so pans move evenly. Also fixed: on some iPhones, clips recorded with sound wouldn't play in the album. New: movie mode. Tap MOVIE at the top of the camera list to film with 19 cameras, from Super 8 and 16mm film cameras to VHS and 8mm camcorders, a 2000s digicam and a webcam. Each film brings its grain and flicker, each tape its smear and noise, modelled on the real gear. Turn on MIC to record sound with your clip. Also new: Movie colours at the top of the film list, 20 films graded after the colour of well-known films.

Adjusting the exposure is smoother. In the album you can now pinch or double-tap to zoom into a photo, and delete photos. The film list is grouped by type, and the zoom bar is easier to grab.

You can now turn the shutter sound on or off with the music-note switch at the top left of the finder, and the shutter is a little quieter. Plus a few small improvements.

Every film in the list now shows a year. Plus a few small improvements.

The film list now shows the year each film's original stock first came out: Charcoal 400 from 1940, Porcelain 400 from 1998, and more.

More stable: if the app ever closes unexpectedly, it now sends a crash report so we can find the cause and fix it.

A small fix: the film preview now shows every film's description in your language.

Film preview, the easy way. • Tap a film in the list to see it on the finder. Flip through with ◀ ▶; close, and it's loaded. • The film list opens on the film you're using. • A DATE switch under the flash turns the date stamp off. • New installs start on the 28mm lens.

Every film is now yours. • All 100 films included, as many rolls as you like — no ads, no in-app purchases. • The film shelf has a clearer order, and five films have new names.

ROLLIE'S now speaks 12 languages. • A clearer screen when camera access is off, with a one-tap way to Settings. • A smoother first launch: the camera comes first.

Small fixes.

Finishing touches on the Japanese translation — the capsule tower, the album and the darkroom plaque now speak Japanese too. New store screenshots.
