SEASON 2, OBON LIGHTS (Oct 26 – Dec 7): lanterns in the tower, 2 looks to earn. New here? Bunbuku teaches the basics in a short lesson; HOW TO PLAY is on the menu.
Slash demon bosses, dash through yokai and climb a tower that changes every time you play.
The tower changes shape every night. The shadow that killed your master waits at the top. One sword, one chance — die, and you fall back to the bottom… but you remember something.
• NEW: the Daily Board and a new menu — the same tower for everyone each day, and a prize for yesterday's best
• Game Center — 3 leaderboards and 28 achievements
• Fast, fluid combat: parry, dash, execute, air combos
• Painted in washi paper and indigo, with vermilion as the one accent
• Duel a friend: send a short code, race up the same tower for 5 minutes, then fight on the temple roof
• Kiyomori waits at the summit: three endings shaped by how you climbed, then the Endless Tower
• A second weapon, the spear, and the Guardian Road: five guardians in a row against the clock
• Every climb is different: a procedural tower, 9 biomes, guardians, caves
• 9 ink-painted biomes that breathe: lightning over the storm sea, eyes in the silk caves, lanterns rising over the night city
• 70+ cards and 22 paths: three cards of one class wake a path with its own living card; five bring its mastery
• The Soul Tree: 4 branches, 51 roots and 3 crowns of lasting growth
• A 5-minute short climb or the whole tower
• Daily challenge: everyone climbs the same tower
• Photo mode and Best Moments: keep your finest kills as GIFs in Photos
• Playable with one hand; haptics and accessibility options
• Nothing sold gives power: purchases are looks and comfort
Stylised ink violence; blood and dismemberment can be turned off completely in Settings → Gameplay → Gore Level.

Although I like platformers and the graphics are cool it is a bit frustrating due to a few issues. I don’t like the circle movement control in general. Character is quite difficult to control with precision. There is just too much going on with all of the presumably power ups and other options. Also a bit confusing due to the previous point.
Developer Response
Thank you for the honest and detailed review, both points are fair. Since update 1.5.0 you choose your joystick when you open the game: a FIXED joystick that stays where it is, so your thumb always goes back to the same place, or the FREE one that follows your thumb. You can switch any time in SETTINGS > CONTROLS. The card screens are calmer too: the wandering trader now tells you what each card does. Update from the App Store, and thanks again for playing!
Very nice game
Abdul bodrul camrul
Although i have only played for half an hour i had a very fun time playing it. The gameplay reminds me of hollow knight would recommend super fun
Developer Response
Thank you! Being compared to Hollow Knight is a huge compliment. Since then the game got a new paper-and-indigo look, a cleaner end-of-run screen and, in 1.5.1, Game Center leaderboards. Have fun climbing!
Wow
Giantmonke
This is one of the best games I have played it’s a very original idea with the climber theme but it’s fast paced and fun will be spending time on it
Developer Response
Thank you so much, this made my day! Since then the game got a whole new paper-and-indigo look, new icons, a new end-of-run screen and, in 1.5.1, Game Center leaderboards and achievements. Enjoy the climb!
Difficult movement
Yf4bb
Horizontal movement is so quick and for some reason the character goes through the platform if you slowly jump off it. Graphics looks nice tho so potential is there.
Developer Response
Thank you for the honest review! The fix is out now in update 1.6.0: on a thin plank the samurai jumps unless the stick points straight down, so a thumb resting down-left or down-right no longer drops you through. If running still feels too fast, SETTINGS > CONTROLS has the FIXED joystick (it stays in one place, so small corrections are easier) and TOUCH SIZE. Thanks for playing!
1.6.1 · THE FIRST LESSON
• New climbers meet Bunbuku: in a short lesson of five rooms he talks you through the jump and double jump, attack and PARRY, the DASH, the WALL JUMP and the shrine's cards, then sends you on your first climb. SKIP is always there.
• No more dead ends: a fork in the tower is drawn only when both of its ways lead on.
• The game no longer hangs after an ad that does not close.
• HOW TO PLAY: every button and four new topics (PATHS, FUSED PATHS, CAVES, THE DARK TIDE), from the (i) on the main menu and from the pause.
• HEARTBEAT: on your last heart, the phone beats with it (OPTIONS > GAMEPLAY).
• Caves open the way you came in, and a path's card waits until you have read it.
• SHORT CLIMB: beating its last guardian is the summit.
• OBON LIGHTS, season 2 (from 26 October): lanterns in the tower, the SOUL BRIDGE TRAIL and the OBON SCARF on the season road.
• Your PLAYER ID in OPTIONS, and smaller fixes.
