Help your child become a confident, skilled writer as they check spellings and discover a wealth of new words to bring their writing to life. Help your child grow into a confident, skilled writer. Spell & Shine helps young writers check spellings, understand new vocabulary and choose words that make their writing more precise and expressive. Designed primarily for children, it’s a simple writing companion for home and the classroom. SAY A WORD. CHECK ITS SPELLING. Say a word in Spell to see how it’s spelt. When words sound alike, short explanations help your child choose the one they mean, so they can get back to putting their ideas on the page. UPLEVEL THEIR WRITING. Shine helps your child uplevel their writing with more expressive or more specific vocabulary. Type or say one word to explore four choices: “walked” could become “strolled” or “crept”, while “tree” could become “oak” or “willow”. Each choice includes a short, friendly definition. Your child can understand the differences and choose the word that best fits their sentence, building their vocabulary as they write. HEAR IT. UNDERSTAND IT. USE IT. Tap a Spell result or a Shine card to hear the word’s pronunciation. Switch word audio off for quiet work. SIMPLE TO START. EASY TO USE. • British English spelling and vocabulary • Four Shine word choices with clear definitions • Large word displays and simple controls • Short guides to help your child get started • Works offline on iPhone and iPad • Supports portrait and landscape One purchase, with no subscriptions or in-app purchases.
