The iPad is the till, the kitchen and the van. Your living room is the shop. Ring it up, cook it, deliver it, then fill the tidy-up jar.
TillieWorld is a pretend shop for children who already love playing shop. It doesn't replace the play. It's the till on the counter, the tickets in the kitchen and the van at the door. The shelves, the things to sell and the customers are yours.
Ring things up on a picture till with real prices and a receipt that rolls out as you go. Take the money, count out the change or tap a card. Then choose what happens next: hand it over, cook it, or send it out in the van.
FREE TO PLAY
• A picture till for children who can't read yet, and a calculator till for confident counters
• Seven shops to run: a Lemonade Stand, Café, Smoothie Bar, Sweet Shop, Toy Stall, Restaurant and Grocer. Change anything: add your own items, name them, price them and pick their pictures
• Go Shopping with a shopping list, then take the basket to the checkout
• A vending machine. Choose a snack by its shape and colour, then pay with coins or a card
• Make yourself: build a little you, from hair and freckles to glasses and clothes, with a dinosaur costume for dressing up
• Tidy-up jobs: make your bed, put your toys away, brush your teeth. A grown-up checks, and coins go in a reward jar towards a goal you set together
• Print menus, play money, price lists and shop signs on your own printer
• A friendly voice helper says the next step out loud, so nobody gets stuck
• A player for each child, so everyone keeps their own shops
ADD-ONS (each a one-off purchase, no subscriptions)
• Customer Orders: customers walk up and ask for things out loud, with pictures. Eighteen illustrated regulars, with voices to match. Add Delivery and some will order online from home instead.
• Kitchen: paid orders become tickets in the kitchen. Stir the soup, fry the chips, scoop the ice cream, then hand the plate through the hatch. Or cook it for real on the floor.
• Delivery: load the van and drive across six illustrated towns to the right house. Knock, hand it over and get a signature.
• Shop Packs: Seaside Day Out (Ice Cream Van, Fish and Chips, Seaside Kiosk, Souvenir Shop) and Market Day (Flower Stall, Bakery, Farm Stand, Food Truck)
• Outfit packs: Animal Onesies, the Dress-Up Box and Town Jobs (baker, chef, postie, builder and more), ten costumes each
• TillieWorld Complete: every add-on above, and every one we add later
PLAY TOGETHER
Link two iPads in the same room, with no accounts and no internet. One child shops while the other works the checkout. With the add-ons, one runs the till while the other cooks or drives the van. While they're linked, the two iPads share the games and shop packs either one has bought.
MADE TO BE KIND
No adverts, no accounts, no data collected, and it works offline. There's a grown-up check in front of anything that costs money and every link out of the app. There's nothing to lose or fail: get an order wrong and the customer simply takes it anyway.
