As a semi retired nurse and busy Granny I volunteered to help in my daughter’s school one day a week (she is the head teacher) mainly to do some craft with the children showing them how to knit and sew. Class teachers spend lots of time cutting out letters for displays and new topics each term and as my middle daughter is a crafter we discussed the merits of a cricut. I bought the cricut explore air 2 and I can truly say life has not been the same since. Apart from the fact that my modest conservatory has changed from a place of quiet rest into a busy craft room, days off are a hive of industry, early years need a space mobile, year 3 needs topic headings and please can we have some bunting for the hall. It’s never ending but great fun. I have learned so much, recently I was able to find photos from ‘Aliens love underpants’ on google and bring them into the craft design space to print and cut out, how wonderful. I also do a lot for my family, window cling at Christmas, lettering on my son-in-laws van, iron on for t-shirts etc. More projects are growing in my head, my 14 year old grandson is going to a scout jamboree in Poland in 2010, he has an ASD so I am going to design some badges/hand outs for him to share relating to his disability in a very positive way so it can be embraced by his fellow scouts. Ideas are endless, we really enjoyed our elf Jingles at Christmas, I did 24 days worth of ‘mischief for my daughter to put out each night, such fun. Thank you for such a wonderful machine. Anne
Great App! Highly recommend even for beginners

I’m very very new to crafting full stop! The ultimate beginner. One of the reasons I decided to purchase my Cricut machine was because of this app. It really did appealed to me because I knew I could design products when I had a spare 5 minutes here and there rather than waiting to get home and fire up the laptop. At first, I was very excited when I downloaded the app as I couldn’t wait to get started, but this soon turned to me being confused when I first launched this app, I followed the set up new machine and first project tutorial which seemed easy but I actually didn’t take anything in, i was a little over confident really and that’s because I jumped in feet first and thought how hard can this be, surely it’s design, cut and go, however this all being said I’ve never created anything to this level before.I decided to launch the design space on my laptop and do some well needed research and since then... wow what a great app!! When you actually understand how to use the tools and tab bars etc it is very easy. I am still only doing very simple products such as creating my own lettering and cutting out of vinyl but I’m getting there and this is also because I need additional tools for my Maker. It’s so easy and convenient to use, it’s an absolute must have app for any Cricut user.
Overall good but disappointed with some functionality

I have an iPad Pro and use this with the Cricut Maker - it is really frustrating that Design Updates for desktops are not pulled through into the App that you have to use on a tablet. More and more people use a tablet/phone for design etc and I think this is something the developers really need to consider more carefully. I just pop my iPad on the rest on the Maker and Bluetooth connect to make a project. So with the App I cannot: use the foiling function, there are certain mediums I cannot cut, and the latest update on the desktop which would be a life saver in terms of time is the kerning function (linking letters automatically rather than manually). My workaround is to use a very long lead and plug into my husband’s iMac - which is not convenient, and fortunately not in an office otherwise would be seen as a trip hazard!Come on Cricut - this is the 21st Century - the features should be available to all of us regardless of whether a tablet/laptop/desktop
Too glitchy generally

I started using the iPhone app at first as was just getting used to things really. I started with an explore air 2 but now have a maker 3. I find it’s easy and good to upload files to design space from your phone. However the app lacks hugely in a lot of the options available on iPad and then even more available on windows/pc. The iPad app has issues also. I’ve had the most issues with texts and find this is really glitchy. You have to zoom right in which then creates uneasiness as you can’t gage your design if that makes sense. Almost disorientates you as a user. Sometimes I just cannot enter texts at all, it just doesn’t work. Also there are issues with highlighting designs and fixing them together and/or slicing on the app. Sometimes it gives me the option to do that, other times it doesn’t. The range of options that are available on pc are just not there so it’s very limited and stops creativity. Print options are limited, viewing the cut/print/layers, also changing colours, is an awkward process. It’s frustrating. I really do think Cricut need to improve their iPhone app and make it a lot more user friendly. I don’t like it all that much, much prefer Canva at present. The windows app is a lot better but even that can have its moments but generally it’s allows for much more creative freedom.
