Signal is a messaging app with privacy at its core. It is free and easy to use, with strong end-to-end encryption that keeps your communication completely private.
• Send texts, voice messages, photos, videos, GIFs, and files for free. Signal uses your phone’s data connection, so you avoid SMS and MMS fees.
• Call your friends with crystal-clear encrypted voice and video calls. Group calls supported for up to 50 people.
• Stay connected with group chats up to 1,000 people. Control who can post and manage group members with admin permission settings.
• Share image, text, and video Stories that disappear after 24 hours. Privacy settings keep you in charge of exactly who can see each Story.
• Signal is built for your privacy. We know nothing about you or who you’re talking to. Our open source Signal Protocol means that we can’t read your messages or listen to your calls. Neither can anyone else. No back doors, no data collection, no compromises.
• Signal is independent and not for profit; a different kind of tech from a different kind of organization. As a 501c3 nonprofit we are supported by your donations, not by advertisers or investors.

Not sure whether anyone else experiences this for each and every update, but I received a notification re an update Tuesday this week, which I dutifully downloaded and then opened briefly.. I then checked in to the AppStore this morning to see if any updates are available and see the same update once more requiring download and install.I have reported this behaviour previously and the response I received from the Devs was that this would be expected behaviour if I were on the Beta channel... but I’m not. I am however in the U.K. which is why I am especially anxious as to whether there is any less than subtle replacing of trusted binaries taking place, given one can’t exactly readily check for reproducible build and sideload having confirmed checksums...I therefore ask again, particularly in light of further overtures in certain quarters about bypassing Signals security by circumventing authentication in group chats (for eg;) can an explanation be provided for this persistent, recurrent behaviour as lack of the same is making me question the integrity of this App.
Latest update 😡
BoredOfApps
I’ve used signal and I’ve donated to signal. I’ve never liked anything FB owned but due to this service having issues I’m struggling to get people to change. Notifications are hit and miss, I don’t want stickers, wallpaper or anything infantile, some photo messages arrive blurry and no idea why. But the latest update has restricted sending to multiple people, now only 5 are permitted. Once of my most hated WhatsApp features. Also I can’t go to media and select multiple images to forward, the only option is to delete. If I do them one by one (very tedious) when I’ve done the second a keyboard appears which cannot be removed - I have to go back to the original sender, find out where I was up to and go again. The aggravation in using Signal may send me back to WhatsApp for these features. Developers please take note - we aren’t all kids and we need features for grumpy, impatient, time restrained adults that just want to share photos and jokes sometimes.
OVERALL REVIEW

Having been using signal for short time for the reason of providing privacy due to sick of reading and seeing social media messaging apps compromised, being so easy to do.i do like to read reviews before installing an app .the app itself no-problems as yet but what does bother me is reading reviews commenting on people seeing people’s content of so-called pornographic content and other material…..NOW as far as it goes what do they know about people’s private mail 🤔 as long as it’s not illegal it’s none of anyone’s business or concern also it’s a automatic prison sentence to hack someone’s mail & phone for that matter,I think cleaning the internet is going a bit to far used for invasion of privacy purposes & psychological bullying to take control (I’m sure if there is crime the police would deal and already be on to it ANY good app signal👍ps they offer e2e encryption if anyone invades my phone or my privacy I will see them in court
Good privacy but missing some features
Cotswold Boy
This is a solid instant messaging app with an emphasis on privacy and security. WhatsApp is owned by Facebook, the worst company on the planet, who allow racism, sexism and the corruption of democracy through lies and fake news to proliferate and they've proved time and again that as long as the dollars keep rolling in they absolutely don't care about any of those things. There are some features in Signal that are missing though. Image and video management are abysmal. In every other messaging app you have a MANAGE feature where you can select exactly the images you want the app to have access to and therefore to share. With Signal, almost unbelievably, there's no such feature. You cannot select new images to share within the app but instead have to manually select them from your photo roll then send them to your Signal contacts in order to share them - either that or open up every single one of your images and videos to the Signal app, which seems to run counter to notions of good privacy.
• Here's a toast to some additional Liquid Glass enhancements, including redesigned toast notifications.
• This update also introduces several accessibility improvements and better VoiceOver support for new Signal users within the Get Started section. Thanks, @meherkasam!
