seemingly disappointed, but I’ll cut Creative Assembly some slack as this is the first of many versions too come.. Hopefully. Don’t get me wrong there are definately a few problems that need to be addressed and hopefully they can be dealt with as soon as possible. As a fan of Total War games I couldn’t help but feel a sense of euphoria when I saw Rome 2 on the App Store, but I couldn’t help but notice the small changes that C.A have made. I don’t know if this is because its on Mac or simply because its the Emperor Edition, but I did identify that the Egyptian Faction has had its colours change which is different to the PC version - this isn’t a big issue it’s just something I highlighted. For me personally I think Rome 2 is a great game, especially the historical aspect. But the one thing I’m going to be most critical of is C.A seemed to have taken away the advanced graphic option (Unlimited Video Memory), which is a disappointment because I have a decent graphics card but I’m starting to find the feature which C.A have implemented to downgrade your in-game graphics because of low memory slightly annoying. Although I can see why they brought this feature into the game, personally I think it takes away the players freedom of choice. Because you want to be able to enjoy Total War games at their full potential, sometimes even at the expense of the game running slow, but that’s just my opinion. I definately hope they bring this option back for the Mac version.
Sad to say… It’s horrible :(

I’ve loved the Total War Franchise since it first came out! And I’ve been waiting for Total War 2 for such a long time, and even more upset when I realised I had to wait a little longer for the Mac version to be released! So, when I saw this for £40, I was toiled as whether to buy it or not, especially since there was no previous reviews, but I thought ‘Why not’ and here I am now! It’s clunky, the audio doesn’t correctly work it’s all patchy and laggy and the game takes FOREVER to load! Not to mention the constant crashing! Come on SEGA you’re better than this, let’s work on that new version straight away to iron these issues out, and maybe think about bringing that price down as well, it’s a bit steep!
A Dissapointment.

Yep, i ignored all these ratings below and proceeded to buy Rome 2 Total War as i was impressed with all other titles before and have baught almost all Total War games on the App Store. I met most of the system requirements and as Shogun 2 ran smoothly without many crashes, this game however is a stain on CA’s record for awesome and content filled games. Mass amounts of paid DLC, Confusing and complicated setting controls (What ever happened to Low,Medium,Highand Ultra settings?!) and extremely demanding graphics requirements make Rome 2 a letdown. Of course it has it’s benefits. More advanced custom battle settings are a pat on the back to players who want to jump right into the action, sea battles are more engaging than ever, with melee units being usable during a sea battle and more. Recently purchased an extra 8GB of RAM for my Mac OS X (combining to make 16GB of RAM) and the lag is still unbearable. I would not reccommend you purchase this game unless you have the latest Mac OS X and are running latest version. Overall, this game promised but could not deliver. In future, maybe focus on bringing older total war games to mac or perhaps giving feedback for reviews. Refunds should be optional for this game.
