Never lose a place – always know where to go.
Mapstr allows you to save every spot you love anywhere in the world and shows trusted recommendations from friends, pros and influencers, right when you need them.
—— A STORY YOU KNOW ——
You spot an incredible bakery, hear rave reviews about a hidden jazz bar, promise you’ll remember… and two weeks later it’s gone. Screenshots multiply, notes pile up, Google stars blur together, anonymous reviews feel useless.
Mapstr ends the chaos: one tap to save, tag, colour-code and—when friends ask—share a link they can open in any browser, no app required.
—— SAVE, ORGANISE, (RE)DISCOVER ——
* One-tap pins for cafés, shops, hikes—whatever catches your eye
* Unlimited colours & tags to surface “Sushi”, “Sunset spot”, “For a date”, etc. in seconds
* Import Google Maps, CSV or KML lists - if you don’t want to start from zero
* Personal notes, ratings and photos; mark places “To try” or “Tried” to track memories
* Follow the voices you trust: friends, favourite chefs, magazines, local creators
* Merge their maps with yours to uncover hidden gems in 190 + countries
* Share your map with a simple link, viewable in any browser, no app needed
* Full control: flip your entire map to private, or hide individual pins on your public map
* Private by default: your notes, ratings and pictures are only visible to your followers
* Custom places you create (like this cute secret beach) stay only on your map and never enter mapstr’s global database
* 100 % EU servers, GDPR-first, zero ad-tracking

After prompt developer response it turns out I missed satellite view which was in settings. Still think the ability to map walks would be a lovely touch rather than just the start and end points but the overall package as it exists right now is worth 5 star. Original review. The ability to make maps that are personal and important to the user is just great. To be able to share with others is even better. It’s a great concept and I’m really enjoying using it. For a full five stars the ability to view satellite and to map walks would make this app a market leader. Please do keep up the good work.

HelloYou can choose the satellite view on your app settings in your profile in the left menuAnd you can map the walks’ starting point if you want to !:)
Great app turned mediocre for profit

The app used to be amazing, I started using it over 7 years ago and have been loving it bf adding new places to try every time I travel. But noticing the recent changes (subscriptions, limited amount of pinned places and the numerous crashes when using the app), it feels like freemium users are being pushed out. It’s truly disappointing and I’ll probably start using another app soon.[Replying to the app developers’ response]: while i understand the need to cover the costs of the maintenance and development of the app, I don’t appreciate receiving the pop-up window to subscribe as often as it does. While it seems to have reduced, it used to show up at nearly every action I made on the app. Regarding what I consider mediocre, yes, I do not like the fact that I’m now limited in the number of locations I can add. I had to delete some of my old ones to add new ones in preparation of my trip. I also think the cost required to unlock more options is too high for the value of this app. Moreover, regarding the technical issues: I’ve noticed that sometimes the app doesn’t let me zoom in as much as it should on the map; some of the pins do not display their names (which should be normal when two of them are close from each other), but it doesn’t let me click on them to check them out. When I go to the list to check their name and click on one of them, the app just freezes and closes on its own. It’s honestly made using my saved location frustrating during my trip.
Developer Response
HelloWhile I understand the frustration of having to pay, I don’t get how an « amazing » app that you used for 7 years can become « mediocre » just because we ask you to help us cover the costs. The amazing part was because it was free? Or its usefulness? We’re not pushing free users out as you can still use the app for free, there’s just a limitation to the number of places for the top 3% most active users and additional features in exchange. We have no record of crashes so we would be happy to have more details on that on hello@mapstr.com :)
Best app for travelling by far.

**** UPDATE****Got a personal response from the founder of Mapstr, he guided me through the issues I was having and helped me sort them out in no time at all. Amazing service, amazing app. Would recommend to everyone who likes to travel. Top service! Thank you!Been using Mapstr for a couple of years now. Brilliant app, so handy for travelling. However, recently I started it using on an iWatch. It worked perfect to start with but lately, has stopped working. Have done everything apple and the developers recommend (restart, delete and re-install etc etc) and it still won’t load. Just cuts out every time I load it up on the iWatch, but works fine on the phone. Have spoke to some friends who use it and they have had the same issue. Any ideas how to get around this as I’m going away this weekend and would live to be able to use it instead of having to walk around with my phone in my hand??

Your New Subscription System Is Absurd

I’ve been a very happy user for years, adding over 1,000 places to my account. Your decision to force me to now pay £50/year simply feels extortionate. How disrespectful considering the amount of time I’ve taken to feed data into your system. *Update* since I’ve gotten a disappointing reply from you: when I create a new place that other users can then find by entering the address, providing the name and updating pictures, I would absolutely call that feeding data. It’s very disingenuous and a bit demeaning of you to say that I’m only benefitting from the data you’re providing. Getting revenue from your hard work is not in itself disrespectful. However, forcing an unannounced £50 annual subscription without any prior communication or warning in order to keep using your app is. Considering the price tag, I think you’re widely over-evaluating your app’s stickiness and usefulness. It’s a real shame considering how many people I’ve turned to in the past to say: “hey, have you heard of Mapstr?”
Developer Response
Hello! To answer your update: when you create a place providing its name and address you’re feeding your map, but not our data, as we don’t use this information for privacy reasons. Try searching for it after you’ve created it and you’ll see we don’t use any of your data.So no you don’t feed us.Again I understand the frustration of having to pay, but I wanted to make it clear.—You haven’t feed any data, you haveused our data to bookmark your favorite places. All the edit you have done is only on your map, not in our systems…. I understand the frustration, but no it’s not disrespectful to try to get some revenue to work on this app that is so useful to you.
