• Patient compliance: Regular follow-ups lead to higher treatment adherence!
This app has been brilliant for my son who’s aged 13. All dental monitoring for progress of aligners is done via this app using a connector which attaches to your mobile and using a mirror you video your teeth and send to orthodontist. No trips back and fourth to the dentist every few weeks, saves so much time, as doesn’t have to leave school every 10 days to visit orthodontist. Literally takes no more than 5 minutes to complete once you get the hang of it, quick, simple and hassle free. Able to communicate with dental practice via the app as well…brilliant app
It’s great, just needs some tweaking

I think this app is a great however a big enhancement I think should be introduced should be the ability to pause the photos being taken when scanning. Currently you scan the left then right then centre of the mouth, however the time between photos is too quick so you rush to move your camera into position. If a feature could be implemented so that you could start the photo being taken once you’ve manoeuvred the camera into position. Also, currently my first scan is without my Invisalign in. I think the first scan should be the one with Invisalign as currently I have to take them out, scan, then put them back in and scan again. Would be easier if my first scan was with them in then I only have to take them out once
Needs some small but important changes to the user experience
OldSkoolRaver1992
Amazing technology but a very frustrating user experience. The app is so very close to being perfect and just needs a couple of small changes. 1. Offer the user the option to retake a photo IMMEDIATELY after they have taken it and BEFORE moving on to the next step. 2. Offer the user the option for the photo with the aligners in to be the FIRST photo in the series and the option to check and approve this photo BEFORE moving on to the photos with the aligners removed. These small changes would save so much time and hassle having check and retake photos when you often know immediately that you'll need to retake a photo, and it would save having to remove and replace aligners sometimes multiple times in order to retake photos.
Inaccurate and awkward
Luxara
I wish my orthodontist didn’t use this app. It consistently only caught tracking issues several swaps after I noticed them - the one set of refinements done without went far better with me wearing an aligner longer every time I saw it was not tracking rather than relying on the app. It’s also awful with a small mouth or jaw issues. Keeps repeating the “open wider” voice line and to bypass, needs no movement for a few seconds after to realise wider is not happening, which is difficult to do. Less on the app, more on the general process: The scan box won’t fit my phone with its case, and taking it off every week is awkward. Even then, it feels wobbly and like my phone might fall and doesn’t always realise it’s inserted correctly. My new phone won’t work at all without yet another attachment.

Use Statement
DentalMonitoring is a medical device software using image processing algorithms to analyze pictures of the oral cavity (hereinafter Scans). Scans are taken using the DM App and a smartphone, and the manufacturer’s proprietary hardware products. Scans are taken by the patient, a non-healthcare professional, or a Healthcare Professional. The Scan is taken in healthcare facilities, such as a dental practice, or in a non-healthcare environment, such as the patient’s own home. For some Clinical Parameters, DentalMonitoring requires a 3D Model. The product is designed to assist Healthcare Professionals in remotely monitoring dental treatments, orthodontic treatments, oral health, and treatment progress. The results of DentalMonitoring are intended to be used as an aid in diagnosis and not on a stand-alone basis for clinical decision-making. DentalMonitoring is indicated for use for patients over the age of 6 and reports results solely on permanent teeth.
Safety Information
CONTRAINDICATIONS - DentalMonitoring should not be used on patients under the age of 6. DentalMonitoring should not be used by patients presenting systemic conditions affecting connective tissues not allowing them to open/close their buccal cavity sufficiently to acquire acceptable Scans. LIMITATIONS - DentalMonitoring is indicated for use for patients over the age of 6 and reports results solely on permanent teeth. WARNINGS, PRECAUTIONS, NOTICES - The following population should be assisted by a third party to perform Scans:
children up to 12; adults or children visually impaired; adults or children hearing impaired; or any condition that might prevent the patient from adopting the right position to take a Scan. DentalMonitoring is not intended to replace standard practices for diagnosis or treatment. Final clinical decisions remain the sole responsibility of the Healthcare Professional. In order to establish a diagnosis, further examinations are required according to the current standard of care, such as dental radiographs and/or tactile examinations with instrumentation. In the event of pain, discomfort, or any other symptom during treatment, you should refer to your Healthcare Professional since the latter has the ultimate responsibility for making medical decisions. DentalMonitoring results are limited only to elements visible in the input Scans. DentalMonitoring does not provide results on non-visible elements. DentalMonitoring does not provide results on lingual surfaces. Some Scans may be rejected if they cannot be processed by DentalMonitoring. In such cases, you will be informed of the reason for the rejection and given advice on how to take acceptable Scans. Please see Why was my Scan rejected? for a list of reasons your Scan may be rejected.
