Ratings and Reviews
Ok so far
Just got the app…like 5 mins ago and immediately tested it on some of my indoor plants (because i know what they are).
It didn’t know Chrysanthemum or Chives and muddled them up with something else even when i took photos from different angles, but it did get the other 5 species correct: a christmas cactus, a flowering weed I’d brought in from outside, coriander, a spider plant and an Amaryllis.
I guess 5 out of 7 isn’t bad hence the stars given…but it refers you to wikipedia only…you’d have to then search for care guidance yourself if you wanted that.
Only for identification.
Nagware
I paid for the no-ad version because I used the app quite a lot and found the adverts annoying, made deliberately so in my opinion by hiding the close button and other tricks. I don’t usually do reviews but I found that in the upgraded product, the ads were replaced by continual nagging for a review so eventually I gave in and here I have given it the review it so wanted.
The product is not reliable in the sense that redoing the same plant from different perspectives sometimes results in different identifications. So to be reasonably certain of the app’s identification, you’d be advised to repeat the exercise several times from different angles and check that you always get the same result. And if you don’t, you’re worse off with the app than without it because you’ve just wasted your time using it and learnt nothing.
Fantastic viewing
I find this app so interesting. To be able to click and find out if it’s a plant, weed, meadow grass etc is so fantastic when in your own garden or out and about just browsing. Or even taking a picture while in a garden centre to see if the plant is right for a space in your own garden.
I hope others get the same satisfaction from using the app. Well worthwhile. Thank you to the person/ people who thought of it. 😋
