On its first run, your robot maps your home and automatically segments and labels each room for you. Further personalise your map by creating Keep Out Zones, No Mop Zones and Clean Zones that allow you to clean specific rooms and objects or tell your robot where not to clean. Powered by iRobot OS, your robot continually learns your home and offers zone recommendations for a more precise clean.

A good vacuuming robot but dust box is way too small.
I purchased this after reading and watching the reviews. It does a good job of mapping the house and the accompany app makes setting a schedule quite easy. It does a very good job of picking up dust, hairs and bits and navigates the furniture well. The biggest issue I have with it is the size of the dust box which becomes full after doing less than half of the downstairs of our house. This means that if you set it to clean everywhere when you go out, it gets full before ending the job and returns to its charging station waiting for the bin to be emptied. In turn, it waits till you get back and empty the bin before finishing the job. If I could have afforded it I would have bought the self emptying model but at over 250€ more, I simply couldn’t afford it.

My Roomba 966, named Rumu, will be 2 years old in a couple of days and is still going strong. Lately he’s been working as my ‘You really should be out of bed by now” alarm during lockdown, and is quite an incentive for lazy people to keep the floor space of their homes clear. It would be really nice if we could get/buy a camera feed from the camera when it is facing forward as it goes around the house. Combine this with a remote control function and you could have a fun little toy. Allow us to save the pictures remotely and then it would be a mobile security camera. Now that is an app that I’d definitely buy. The only problem I have really had is when I had to change my network router and re-setup my network settings. The secret is to do a reboot on the robot by holding down the Clean button and then after it has connected to its own network and literally told you that it has, change it back to your own network as it doesn’t do this automatically. This took my at least a couple of panicked hours of fiddling to discover so I hope that the network setup later models is a bit clearer. Apart from that I love it.
Great piece of useful tech
We bought our first automatic vacuum cleaner quite some time ago and I have to say the tech available has come on leaps and bounds. Cameras and sensors stop the unit falling of steps, I love the interaction with the app and the tidy up option (it shows pics of obstacles on the floor, you have the option to pick them up and ask the unit to go back to those areas). Select options to target specific areas, I can have the dining chairs and the coffee table moved out of the way and set it cleaning those areas whilst I’m doing other things, it can even detect when you leave before starting cleaning so it doesn’t interrupt you. We bought our unit as I’ve had surgery and need quite some time to recover and the boys (my husband and grow up son) decided manual vacuuming wasn’t for them, despite my chastising. I’m super pleased with it, it’s doing a fantastic job. I would definitely recommend and suggest a unit with a large capacity base particularly if you have dogs.
