Japanese Language Learning 4+

All the other Japanese learning apps I’ve tried have just snapped up my already non-existent motivation due to their laggy, unprofessional and frankly badly done interfaces and incorrect information. However, on Drops, my motivation levels have sprung up! The calming colouring and the game-like activities make it so much easier to learn - and the fact that it’s only 5 minutes a day makes it ten times better. Thank you for finally creating an app that helps!

This helps a lot with memorising characters but I found that I had to use a different app to learn to write them, especially with the correct stroke orders. I also find that with a structure like this app's, the amount you memorise can be deceiving as you find that if you're asked to write out a hiragana or katakana character after being presented with the romaji (English alphabet), it can be more difficult than it was when presented with 4 options to choose from.

The subscription model is also frustrating as I can't afford it but have bought another app that works better in my view (entitled "Japanese!") that teaches both basic alphabets and makes you write them correctly with stroke orders...BUT it only costs about £10 and another £10 if you want their second app that teaches Kanji.

However, this gets 4 stars because it's aesthetically pleasing as well as being a good memory prompt.

Really good pricing, especially for the quality of the product that have seen so far. 5 mins free each day, and then either £8 a month so same as Netflix pretty much or the option for the year that’s less than £3 a month.

I like that it’s started introducing words straightaway of things I have around the house, can see and associate, also the multiple mini games of getting you to remember - all very pretty and sound nice also.

The writing feature is so cool! Like how you draw the letter on the screen and it guides you the first few times and then gives you freedom to draw how you want.

The only thing would be a nice improvement is if the kanji could be integrated into the images would be an amazing touch to help learn the writing as well as the words and sounds of them.
(That said I understand it’d be a lot more work finding images that fit multiple languages it would just be a nice touch)

It’s still early days so am just learning the letters and names of things at the moment, am interested to see how/if you teach grammar later on :)
