Blows competition out the water

I have recently got an iPad and was looking for something for my 4yo girl as she’s going up to preschool this year. I must say when I first started looking at kids apps I was incredibly disappointed with the selection. From colouring to education, it was either rammed full of micro-transactions (a certain brand that starts with D and ends is isney is the absolute worst), poor quality or both.

This app has it down. Everything is split neatly into bite size education levels and the interactive nature it keeps my daughter engaged. The sheer amount of stuff to do and the quality of it puts all other apps to shame. And it doesn’t cost a penny!

My only request would be that a future update include Apple Pencil support in that palm rejection is enabled in Library > Create > Draw, and then subsequently allow the kids to free colour on the rest of the Library > Create selection, this will allow them to colour by themselves trying to keep it in the lines rather than just the fill option.

Developer Response ,

We're excited to hear that you and your daughter have discovered Khan Kids. Your suggestion about Apple Pencil support and free-form coloring have been noted and shared with our development team to consider in future updates. Thanks so much for this wonderful review!

Excellent app

After using Lingo kids for my 2 year old daughter a few months and finding it really repetitive and difficult for my daughter to navigate, I gave Khan Kids a go, and after a few days cancelled my subscription for the other in favour of Khan Kids.
So much more interesting, and also I love the focus on the early numbers and letters when first starting up, rather than jumping ahead to things she’s not quite grasping yet.
She loves the characters.
The only negative I’ve found is that sometime when an activity is already demonstrated my daughter picks it up quickly and gets frustrated to wait for the bear to finish talking before the next interaction.
Otherwise though I love the app and more importantly, my kid loves it too!

Valuable home education tool

I had previously used the original Khan academy site with my older home educated child and have been really pleased to discover the kids app for my younger.
I was initially frustrated that I could not use the app to focus on the subjects I wanted (we were particularly looking for a way to work on maths). I then discovered that I could sign up as a teacher and set my child one or two ‘assignments’ to complete before they have access to free play, this is really valuable. The free play cycling through other subjects compliments our other learning too.
I recommend this to other home educators
