Description

The goal of Log-Book is to create entering car mileage as simple and quick as possible but still be compliant with the tax departments’ requirements. Once you have used Log Book a few times you will be able to enter a new trip in THREE taps (and that's including the tap to save it).

We use this app and apart from trying to fix how to stop us forgetting to do it we wanted to make the process as quick as possible because lets face it, everyone wants to spend as little time as possible doing things like this, regardless of how pretty or feature rich the app is.

To speed up a trip entry you can add your own common start, destination and purpose entries. The date and start odometer are entered automatically.

There are no pretty graphs, fancy reports or a multitude of settings, just simple, quick entries.

All entries can be exported to a CSV file for manipulation (graphs and wiz-bang formulas) in a spreadsheet.

Features details:
- Add entries for each trip including distance, places, reasons and general notes.
- 1 to 3 taps for a new entry
- Include start and end times, if required
- Export to CSV
- PDF by month, last month, last 3 months, last year, or all
- Email CSV and PDF
- Popup monthly summaries

What’s New

Version 2.1.4

- Added a warning if an entry distance appears to be excessive.
- Streamlined the input method for entry Locations and Reason
- New input method allows for location and reason editing. Adding, deleting, favourite and renaming (long press) can be performed within any entry.
- Removed Location and Reason data management from Settings. Now performed in any entry.

A great business app ruined in one stupid update

If I sound angry in this review, it’s because I am. Why do app creators feel they must always update their apps? There used to be an adage that said, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” That adage applies here.
We had a great app that simply allowed one to keep an easy-to-read record of business and personal mileage, with monthly read-outs of business mileage.
For me it was perfect. It required me to enter my odometer reading at the start and end of each journey with the option of stating destinations and purposes and whether it had been a business or personal journey. Every month was available in summary form to observe or print out, so it was possible for me to know at any precise time exactly how many business miles had already been completed on any month or part thereof.
No warning or option was given before the update, which has created a largely different app, it just suddenly changed and is now almost useless to me. If I could return to the non-updated version I would but that doesn’t seem to be an option.
The app lost the details of my car which had to be re entered and now monthly summaries do not add up my business mileage so I have to sit and calculate my business totals every month. For me, the whole beauty of this app has been lost. Its simplicity needlessly made complicated.
Thanks for nothing. I’m going to have to return to spreadsheets as every other app out there offers tracking - who needs that? I one where I’ve been and I know the distances I’ve covered. I don’t need to see then on a map! I had perfection. Your stupid and unnecessary update has removed that. And by the way, it also used to be easy to read and intuitive to use. Both of those assets have been lost in the recent update. Odometer readings used to be readable as ‘451’ etc, but now it’s 000451! Why? All you’ve done is make it harder to read. You’ve turned a good and sensible business app into something that looks like a child’s toy.
Absolutely crazy.
Why, oh why, oh why????

Developer Response ,

Wow, you certainly had a lot to say and I appreciate both the good and the bad feedback. Not as an excuse but at certain times the underlying technology used by developers changes to such a level that radical updates are required. This was one of these, basically a complete re-write. I can only apologise for the problems it was caused and hope that the latest version has rectified them for you. I'm always open to simplicity ideas so please let me know directly and I'll attempt to work these back in. Thanks.
