LogTen Pilot Logbook 4+

A great platform, the one addition I hope they bring in is auto cloud backup.
I foolishly thought this already was a function and lost all my data when I switched iPads. Their customer support was excellent and after piecing old data with newer data from my current airline records they were able to sort it and put it in the correct format to upload again.
Their customer support was outstanding.

So… was recommended this app and migrated over. Found the app relatively user friendly although there do seem to be some glaring omissions (logout button anyone?) In any case the problems started a few days ago when a CFI friend was having a look with the intention of maybe migrating over as well and he managed to change himself to PIC off ALL my flights where I was PIC - even though those flights were “locked” which supposedly prevents the data within from being changed. Then I had an issue whereby my iPhone would not sync with my iPad. All the entries were in my iPad with nothing shown in the iPhone. No problem - a recent update from LogTen along with an email saying that all devices must be updated for the newest sync feature to function. So all devices updated and when logging in on the iPad I then faced a screen saying the data is out of sync and must be redownloaded from the cloud. At this point I knew 100% what was about to happen. Clicked the button - the only button - the only option presented to you the user is to continue and… you guessed it - all my flights disappeared. So now my iPad and iPhone are perfectly in sync with nothing showing on either. Fortunately I had made a backup prior to all of this but…. You can’t use it. You must contact them. The design decisions made are beyond frustrating.

We’re sorry about the confusion, but we’re happy to report that there certainly is a log-out button in LogTen, it can be found tapping on Account → Profile. It sounds like your colleague might have changed the name in your profile to their own, which would update the flights where you are named, our Support Team will be happy to help with this. We designed the update process to have several layers of protection and avenues to contact support throughout, although it sounds like you might have replaced your logbook instead. We can certainly help with this as well, as the update will create precautionary backups that our Support Team will be happy to help you restore. So i’ll start by being fair to the app which is a good log book tool with lots of little handle summaries. However, it is not worth the money they are charging for it. Back in 2015 i paid just under £40 for what i thought was a handy tool which was easier than my Excel Spreadsheet. Fast forward 3 years and now they want me to pay £70 per year for the same app after they stopped upgrading it with the IOS upgrades. This means i now have to re-input my flight data back into the trusty Excel spreadsheet. Overall if you just want an easy logbook app don’t waste your money here. If you have cash to burn, it’s a solid app and in fairness will let you take your data out in a Tab format if you change your mind.

If you had version 6, which was retired in 2014, then you may have purchased the iPhone or iPad only apps, as they were all sold separately at that time, and did not include updates. Starting in 2014 we launched the currently LogTen Pro service which is a subscription and gets you both iPhone and iPad apps, iCloud Sync, all the updates, powerful new tools for analyzing your data, saving you time, and ensuring you stay within legal limits so you can fly safer and smarter. So, just wanted to clarify that if you did in fact start using LogTen Pro in 2015, then your annual subscription price should be unchanged, and you can get the latest version free any time in the App Store. If you started earlier, and did have one of the old version 6 apps, then as a thank you for your business you get a free trial and a discount on your subscription (every year!) should you choose to continue with LogTen Pro.
