LosslessCut aims to be the ultimate cross platform ffmpeg GUI for extremely fast and lossless operations on video, audio, subtitle and other related media files. The main feature is lossless trimming and cutting of video and audio files, which is great for saving space by rough-cutting your large video files taken from a video camera, GoPro, drone, etc. It lets you quickly extract the good parts from your videos and discard many gigabytes of data without doing a slow re-encode and thereby losing quality. Or you can add a music or subtitle track to your video without needing to encode. Everything is extremely fast because it does an almost direct data copy, fuelled by the awesome ffmpeg project which does all the grunt work.

* Please note:
- This app is not used for exact cutting. Start cut time will be "rounded" to the nearest previous keyframe, which may be a fraction of a second before your desired cut point, or up to several seconds, depending on the encoding.
- A lot of formats and codecs are supported, but not all possible video/audio formats can be supported. There may be issues with cutting videos from certain new cameras or some professional cameras using exotic codec configurations. VOB not supported.
- You may not be able to cut some proprietary tracks on your files (e.g. gopro's GPMF), metadata tracks etc.
- Preview is low quality for certain codecs
- MPEG TS is tricky sometimes
- EXIF metadata might not be preserved 100%

Did exactly what I needed

I desperately needed to split a Quicktime video into separate segments for use in iMovie (which, amazingly, could not handle it, insisting as it does on treating split clips as expandable views into the original video rather than actual separated chunks). Other video splitters all want to make equal-length chunks or have some clunky interface that requires specifying the timing of the segment. This app has a nice graphical splitting tool and keeps track of each different segment length, and then exports the entire lot into separate files, and accurately synchronises the audio and video tracks. Brilliant stuff. I used the free Github release initially, but have returned to purchase it from the App Store after the fact, because the author deserves the money.

I had a set of day long recordings that I had to split up. I learned the hard way that, when exporting, an editor like Final Cut reads the file from frame 1 FOR EVERY FRAME IT EXPORTS so exports get exponentially slower the further along the source file they get. So much so that when trying to export a 30 minute section towards the end of a 7 hour file Final Cut was telling me that it ws going to take several hours and that estimated time just kept growing! With a tight deadline looming for a large client I desparately went in search of a miracle app that could do this a different way and a much quicker. LOSSLESSCUT was that app. Thank you.
A simple and effective way to losslessly crop videos

The simple interface worked brilliantly for me first time - it was obvious what to do and the output was great! (The start cut point for me was a bit earlier than I'd chosen in the interface, but that's to be expected because of the inherent limitation of where the keyframes are in the video.)

You can remove and add audio tracks.You can also rename 'und' undetermined language , but remeber to use lowercase, ie, 'eng' not ENG..
Add "What's new" (this dialog!)
Allow Shift + mouse click/drag to move/resize segments (configurable modifier key)
Use native web keyboard events: This makes keybindings consistently independent of keyboard layout.
Use file name template also for merge files
Dialog button positions are now OS-dependent
Markers: Segments that don't have any end time are now considered "markers". They are rendered differently, and are excluded from exports. Markers can be useful for bookmarking locations on the timeline and all markers can be batch exported as screenshots.
