I had similar problems to all the other reviewers. This was in August last year when the German parent co decided that they weren't going to support any iOS lower than 11. This is why the app crashes all the time. What did happen that enabled me to continue reading weekly MCN was that Bauer linked my subscription to Zinio. Just open my reading list and away you go. Problem is that the automatic renewal through iTunes does not mean automatic renewal of Zinio. My last copy was 8th Jan, and to date MCN subscriptions have not bothered to answer my email. Why all this BS ? Bauer should make their product accessible to all irrespective of the bl@@dy software version. Someone needs to talk to them about business model

Thanks for the review - I appreciate you taking the time to write it.
There are some inaccuracies in it which I'd like to point out.
The app is compatible with iOS 9, 10 and 11. However, the important thing to note is that your device must have a 64-bit or higher processor in order to operate the app smoothly. It won't now work with a 16 or 32-bit processor, so my guess is you were using an older device, either an iPad 1, 2 or iPad Mini 1.
We support as many devices and operating systems as we can - but if you Google 'Apple support for 32-bit iOS apps' you'll see why we did it.
I apologise for any difficulty caused.
Apple should refund you directly for any part of your subscription that has gone unfulfilled. Please get in touch with their support directly to claim this.
We can't refund you directly as your purchase was with Apple, and we don't see your iTunes payment data.

I'll happily organise a swap to a software which does maintain support for older devices. Or, if you update your device to a newer iPad / iPhone, let me know and I'll sort you complimentary access to compensate for the issues you've missed.

Unusable

Don’t know what’s happened but this used to be a perfectly useable app that did what it should, provided a platform to read a publication. Well not anymore. Most of the time the app fails to open and when it does it crashes shortly after. Occasionally it’ll tease and open fully but then doesn’t fully download an edition of MCN, missing pages. I’ve been an MCN subscriber for so many years but I’ll be cancelling now. I’ve not seen an edidyion for a month because the app doesn’t work. Tech support is next to useless with the advice being close the app and re-open followed by delete the app then re-install and finally we’ll delete your credentials then you can re-register none of which actually solve the problem and it’s a week between email replies - the only way to contact them (and I had to search hard for that option) and of course they keep taking your money. Don’t bother and keep to the hard copy of you can find one, I’ve had enough though - bye MCN not buy MCN.

Edit: MCN have responded below “it takes time to respond to everyone’s issues” translation = we don’t really care, here’s a generic reposted that illustrates we haven’t taken your feedback on board. We have your money if you want to stop using the app please do. Shambles of a company that has now shown there is no accountability and no desire to fix an app that simply doesn’t work. Avoid. If you you want to read MCN ago old school and buy the paper. They are not a digital, modern company.

Sign-up is frustrating and fails

I bought a sample issue online and then downloaded the app which asks me to sign up. Signup page has repeated email fields, you have to enter surname and customer number from email. Any mistake or server problem and all of the input fields are wiped.
I use a password wallet and auto generated a password to the requirements, the app tells you the minimum password length but not the maximum- so maybe my password was too long (I like secure long passwords)
I know I am typing everything in correctly because I am copy and pasting from my digital wallet. When the form fails it doesn’t highlight the field in error so you gave no clue what is wrong.
Contact support and wait 3 days for a response which is just a repeat of the original sign-up instructions. No attempt to respond to my questions in the email or apologise for this crummy sign up. Also waiting 3 days means a weekly paper is getting out of date.
I signed up on the website and then ignored the create login screen and used the login with the web credentials. This appeared to work and I started reading. Decided to install the app in the iPad and failed to sign in on there. Emailed support and they tell me web signup is not the same as the app. They are utterly clueless. What a shame as I liked what I read if MCN.
