The app for those who are serious about learning and practicing sight reading!
This app is designed to mimic the look and style of real sheet music. This is important when you transition between this app and your music as it will be a natural transition. Another important feature of this app is to read from left to right while having multiple notes on the staff at the same time as it would be with real music. This app does that in the most efficient way possible for the limited screen.
- Simple interface that will allow you to naturally transition from app to sheet music
- Very customizable practice options
- Progressive lessons for treble, bass and the grand staff
- Real piano sounds
- Optional visual aids with hints when you are stuck and note values on the keys
Don't use flashcards to learn to read music when you can learn it the right way.
There are many features planned. Please contact us with any feedback you may have.
Have fun with your practice by playing the occasional song. There are only a few to start but more will be added shortly.
Ratings and Reviews
This app is great at easing you in to the basics of sight reading. It starts off simple before showing you the higher and lower ranges of the treble, bass and grand staff. It does that very well and in what seemed like no time, I found my self sight-reading up to 3 ledger lines up and down on both clefs! An improvement happening so fast, I could even notice it happening the day I got the app.
Just one thought, it would be cool if the sheet music started scrolling as you played the notes, otherwise I wouldn't know the notes on the next page until it scrolled. I think there should also be a mode where you have rhythms to play as well, and this could go well with the scrolling as you'd have to look ahead and also it would encourage you to not go back and fix your mistakes when sight reading! Just a thought. Anyways, I would recommended this app to some of my musician and non-musician friends! 5/5
For people who can't sight read
Love the app, came back to playing piano after a few years of life got in the way and playing this game a few times a day during breaks at work has really helped me speed up my sight reading times. Still got a long way to go, but it's so much easier to play with this app on the go rather than waiting till I get home to my piano to practise! Well done!
Update: managed to sightread my entire way through the sheet music for Moonlight Sonata for the first time ever! Didn't expect to be able to do that so soon, will be trying my hand at other pieces too. I can't thank you enough :)
Truly free and truly brilliant
Bless the developer, Mr Ryan Newsome. If you read the FAQs in the app, he tells you that he created this app for the love of music. He offers it for free and doesn’t wants it to be full of ads, so he makes no money from this app. Yes, you read that correctly - nothing to pay AT ALL and no annoying ads.
And this app is genuinely worth it. It is quality. It is truly excellent. I am learning to read music from scratch and this app is EXACTLY what I was dreaming of - authentic-looking sheet music with an authentic-looking keyboard. I didn’t see the point in trying to learn any other way.
The app is simple, but it really does work very well as an app and also very well in fulfilling its purpose. It is also stable - no crashing. Oh, how I dream of more apps like this one.
I am sure the Universe will reward the generous-hearted Mr Newsome in other ways for his kindness and his brilliant, but straightforward and simple app that does what he says it does. Bless you and thank you Mr Newsome.
