Just so b***** unreliable
This is so unstable... and I have been on it for 3 years now. It really hasn’t got any better. Despite that I now have 4 units that should multiroom. On a good day the app finds them all. 2 are on 2.4 , 2 on 5Ghz (don’t ask). Its not the mixing, because tonight on either network I cannot find one of the units, and sometimes am finding 3, sometimes 1. Come on Naim this really isn’t good enough and I have been emailing you repeatedly over the whole time about this. Saying that the answer is to hardwire (to be fair you haven't said that for a few months now) in this wifi age, is no answer. Surely with all the reviews, feedback etc you must see that this could well be a deal breaker in this day and age where app control is now utterly central to people buying a system. You simply cannot rest on audio performance for ever. Control is now equally if not more important. PLEASE SORT THIS OUT.

Initial impressions were great. But then I don’t know whether it is for the reason I have the 1st gen Muso(s) and the newer platform is better, but this had been rollercoaster. I would say it works about 50% of the time, the range of issues is wide: ie. when I try navigating “too fast” within Tidal it freezes up and the app can not find my devices for 3-10 minutes, sometimes until I do a hard reboot on the speakers (power cut off). The latest is that it keeps switching to Bluetooth when playing internet radio. I thought it might be just it is connecting to something but it does it even when all phones or any device with Bluetooth in vicinity has Bluetooth disabled. I can straight connect via Bluetooth when this happens so the possibility of the neighbours prancing me is eliminated. Odd. No option to turn down or do anything with bass. I get it it was tuned to perfection and I just have to place the speaker where it sounds good. Problem is that people buying a Muso will often do so due to having no space for a proper hifi. I am in the same boat and I have very limited options of where these speakers can live. The bass is just all over the place and I can’t turn it down. At least a two-step bass reduction feature would be very very handy.
Never thought the day would come - but here it is!
Up until a couple of weeks ago I was in absolute agreement with the vast majority of folks on here that whilst Naim kit is fantastic, the app is shockingly poor needing frequent reloading to find devices that were there five minutes earlier etc.
I’d used a BT router and then one that Naim kindly sent out to me. Results had been pants poor and slightly less pants poor.
BUT, since switching internet provider to Vodafone and using a Vodafone standard issue router, the devices just pop up every single time without fail. It has revolutionised my enjoyment of the system. It just works now. Every time for the last fortnight.
The only reason I’m not giving five stars is I’m still scarred by the last two years. That experience of frustration at a dinner party when all of a sudden it all drops off the app, which another reviewer wrote about, was just so common. But not anymore!!
It still, of course, beggars belief that Naim themselves cheerfully admit they have problems with BT routers (yep, it’s only the largest internet provider in the country whose kit you don’t really work well with!!!!!)
Anyway, for what it’s worth, use or change to Vodafone and the frustration is behind you. Now I only have to pray I haven’t jinxed myself. 😀
