Editors’ Notes

It’s not every day we encounter a game as cool as Nightgate. Avoiding defeat in these minimalist puzzles requires focus, but tight controls make navigating every corner feel smooth. Oh, and believe us, screenshots won’t do it justice. To fully experience all the stylish minimalism, you need to see it firsthand. The perspective-changing stages, pulsing synths and fluid level changes will wow you from beginning to end.

Great

Should say I got this free. I would have been happy to pay a quid or two, but it's not a huge game. I wish there were more games like this on trial or try before you buy. Almost feel guilty getting it free.
It's not that complicated a game, but production values are absolutely top notch. I would have liked a bit more flesh on the storyline (it's a great add on, essentially), and to enhance the atmosphere even more, a few more tunes. It's a bit too easy for quite a while, then just as it starts to become frustrating the end is in sight. I was glad when it ended, so perhaps they got the balance right.
I can recommend 'osmos HD' also in the App Store, for anyone that finished this, it's got an even better atmosphere, but no story to carry it along.
If those who gave it one star for being 'pointless' could perhaps advise us the world changing significance of COD or candy crush, or any other game? It's personal preference only.
EDIT: It's now a year since I installed this one. It doesn't have a great replay value, unless you are stuck on an airplane or something. I wish there were a second version or add on pack. What occurs to me in reflecting back is that if that vague story were enhanced the devs could have turned a relatively simple game into one of the best games of all time.

Get this game now

By far the best game I've ever played and to count, I've played almost 100 but all pretty much had the same premise. I get most people would find it boring but I find this game mentally stimulating. This is very different. You lose playing, just start again. No waiting for anything or purchasing anything. The graphics are amazing and unlike anything I've ever seen in a (app) game . The music I really admire and something I'm into. There are 50 levels and me being me I got too into it and completed them in one day (I had day off and a lot of time don't judge me). I guess this game is one of those that are for some people and not for others. But give it a try. Well done for this, hope another one comes out just like it! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
