Tap rhythm = most enjoyable mini game ever!

As a lifelong performer by ear who could never read music, the tapping rhythm exercises on this app have taught me to successfully count note lengths and their rest equivalents in such a fun way! Improving over the last few weeks has been so much fun, I’m 100% on exam 3 and I finally feel ready to jump into following scores (when I would previously get lost quickly and give up feeling frustrated). All this from just one small part of the app... a superb resource for music tuition!

Rhythm Tapping

I feel that this app has a lot of potential as an all round educational tool/aid to learning theory, reading and practical skills. However talking specifically about the rhythm tapping section, there’s a few things that would be much better if improved;

The “eighth, two sixteenths” and “Two sixteenths, eighth” exercises both play the same notes for every measure (which is an eighth note followed by two sixteenths), which is kind of pointless. It would be much better if they played different combinations of 1/8th & 2/16th notes.

Also the accuracy of tapping sixteenth notes can be quite frustrating. I get that balancing between making it too easy and too hard can be tricky but sometimes it just feels like the button doesn’t respond quickly when you hit it.

The jump from everything you learn after exam #1 to what is in exam #2 is quite drastic - it would be nice if there was more of a combination of exercises for ties, rests and 16th notes.

Finally, if you hit the “Repeat” button in an exercise where there’s enough bars for the page to have to scroll, it will scroll before you’ve actually played the first bar and you won’t be able to see the notes/scroll back up.

But honestly, if all of these things were revised it would be an excellent app.

Good but…

I downloaded this app only a few minutes ago but haven’t tried out anything other than the Ear Training activites.
So I tried out Major and Minor Chords Ascending and Descending and was getting them all correct, but when I went to do the last one (10/10) the audio made an awful glitching sound and it took me out of the app and back to my Home Screen. So I tried it again and the same thing happened, with both the Major Minor Chords and some Interval activities. Without this, I probably would have enjoyed it more.

It’s not letting me press my stars at the top, so I give it 3 Stars. It looks pretty good too, a shame. Hopefully this bug doesn’t happen to others and I hope it gets sorted! 🙂
