Description

Pianoteq is an award-winning virtual instrument that can simulate many instruments (Pianos, Electric Pianos, Harpsichords, Vibraphones, Guitar, Steeldrums and more) thanks to physical modelling. This means that Pianoteq is not playing recorded sounds, it is computing them by applying the equations of physics: it calculates how the strings vibrate, how the wood soundboard radiates the sound.

This is what makes Pianoteq superior to other virtual instruments, the instruments being physically modelled, Pianoteq can simulate the playability and complex behaviour of real acoustic instruments. Because there are no samples, the file size is just a tiny fraction of that required by other virtual instruments, making Pianoteq perfect for your iOS device.

Authorised: many brands have officially authorised Pianoteq: Steinway, C.Bechstein, Petrof, Steingraeber, Grotrian, Blüthner, Hohner have all reviewed the faithfulness of Pianoteq.

How to use:
- connect a MIDI device to your iPad/iPhone
- launch Pianoteq
- start playing!

You can also use Pianoteq as a plugin in any Audio Unit host application, such as GarageBand, AUM, Cubasis, Camelot etc.

Please note: all instruments will run in demo mode (a few keys are disabled) until you purchase a Pianoteq STAGE license (unlocks two instruments), or link it to an existing user account (with a valid Pianoteq license) on our website. Licenses purchased on the App Store will also allow you to use Pianoteq on the other platforms that we support (macOS, Windows, Linux).

What’s New

MrW124 ,

Breathe life into old pianos.

This is a fantastic app, particularly in the upgraded versions.
Initially I felt the sound was somewhat strange but given time and a few tweaks and the sound is great and the playability means I rarely use the onboard sounds on my clavinova clp 635.
I also have the electric piano pack, absolutely fantastic for those 70’s bangers!

Not for dabblers, or limited budgets

Very nice sounds at very high prices, by IOS standards. I’m not a ‘professional’ musician, I’m a veteran dabbler. I’ve bought hundreds of IOS apps/ IAPs, some relatively expensive. Spending thousands of pounds over a number of years. I understand that nice quality means spending more. This is why I bought several of the SWAM instruments, and others. So finding that before I could use ANY Pianoteq instrument in full, I would first have to buy a license costing £119, was disappointing. Then discovering that individual instruments are all just short of £50 each did not help. The one really good thing is that what is available in a slightly crippled fashion can still be useful without parting with a penny.

Nice surprise

Just as good as the desktop version, which is probably my most used piano atm. So it was a nice surprise to discover it was free to transfer one of my three activation slots over to the iPad. Also, worth thinking about - Ravenscroft is 861mb, Pure Piano 1gb, and Pianoteq just 53mb and not resource hungry… and that 53mb includes all instruments.
