The GPS feature guides users from point to point, utilising the knowledge of local historians to go to the best vantage points – making a tour of the battlefields accessible to anyone, anywhere at any time.
Once downloaded, users don’t need internet access to use the app. They can just plug in their headphones and immerse themselves in the history. If you can’t get to the battlefield that’s fine – the app is still a fantastic story in its own right.”
NO INTERNET/3G CONNECTION REQUIRED - Designed for offline use so you don't need to pay for high overseas data charges.
EXPERIENCED GUIDE – Our guides are experts. They bring to life what took place and describe what it was like on the ground when it was happening. It is much easier to understand how things happened when you see where they took place
UP - TO - DATE – Obviously the historic tours don’t change as time passes. We are however always updating things and looking for more information to make the tours more interesting.
AUGMENTED REALITY –Turn the phone on its side and look at the screen. The map will disappear and if you are close enough to the point on the map it will appear on the screen with the camera operating the backdrop. It is then possible to tap the stand and to see the information regarding this point. All of the points are available with the download. No further purchase is necessary
1. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
2. The GPS signal is very weak in areas with overhead cover.
3. The GPS signal is often weak inside a car.
4. Take a real map to make sure you know where you are. Don’t rely on the GPS alone.
5. Download a compass to help you to orientate yourself

Ratings and Reviews
This is a great app! I downloaded it before I went to the Netherlands and could access all the background info on the battle. Once it Arnhem the app guided me easily from spot to spot around the town and the countryside. At each location there is a voice file describing the action during the battle. There are also photos, some of them linked to the exact spots on the ground and at some stops there are video and sound files that help bring the battle alive. The augmented reality is what makes this app great. Once I had listened to the voice file I could look through my phone held up in front of me and it would pinpoint the sites from the description on the ground in front of me. Excellent!! Much better than just reading a book on the battle (which I had also done before going). The app really puts you on the spot with the sights and sounds. I look forward to more.
An infantryman's view
Well done and thanks! To an infantryman who appreciates ground this is great to get round the battlefield, with the augmented reality adding a huge plus. The fact that you can see real photos and hear audioand watch video brings the battlefield to 'life' in a way that nothing else can - I have walked many a battlefield and listened to great story tellers and watched films and computer graphics in the visitor centre but this is so much better its right there with you- on the ground with all these extras anytime you want. Cheaper than the visitor centre headphone with all this extras - fantastic value. More please!!
