POI Loader 4+

It’s a very useful little app, which works just fine apart from the fact that it quits when you’ve produced a gpi file - which is a pain if you are producing several files. If it hadn’t been for this I’d have given it 5 stars.

It’s probably easiest to create a POI folder on your device (inside the main Garmin folder), create your gpi file, save it to your Mac and then use the Finder to copy the gpi file to the device.

POIs are extremely useful if you spend time learning how to make them and use them (eg producing custom icons). If you can’t be bothered, then you might just as well load your waypoints direct to the device rather than converting them to POIs.

The app has worked perfectly with my Zumo 550 unit for the last two years and also now a BMW Navigator V unit (which is similar to a 590LM). Whilst it would be useful for new users to have a helpfile, the app is extremely simple to use and can load a folder containg POIs in gpx or csv format to the satnav device. It converts these to the necessary gpi format whilst saving to the device. The folder you load can also contain sub-folders with POIs.

Will not detect my nuvi 3790 … typical Garmin. :-( … well you learn and move on ….
