Why does it crash multiple times in a game?

I would say watching a game of football, the stream will crash on average 4/5 times. This is fairly consistent too. I stream BT Sport and I very rarely have an issue with it. Looking at reviews it’s obviously an issue, the feeling I get is that whilst I’m paying for content, the way it’s delivered is very much 2nd rate. Streaming issues aside the app is very clunky when compared to my previous example of BT, and indeed other apps. There is no other way to watch the content however, so I’m basically a captive customer, no doubt meaning a lack of incentive for Premier Sports to invest in this. Disappointing but I remain optimistic for change!

Badly made app with no care taken

This app has all the signs that very little care has been taken over its development. To start, on an iPad, you launch the app and the logo appears in landscape mode. Then, the log in screen appears in portrait mode, the menu following a successful log in also appears in portrait mode, but the content is in landscape. And the landscape orientation of the content seems to default such that if you’re using an iPad with a case, it’s upside down. Cue vigorously rotating it to get it the right way up. You could argue that this is something to do with the orientation APIs offered as part of iOS/iPadOS, but I watch 100s of hours of video content on my iPad and this is the only app that behaves this way.

But it gets worse. Having done the dance to get the content to play in the correct orientation, and the right way up, it streams for maybe a few minutes before the app just crashes. So that whole ordeal, of getting the right content to play in the correct orientation the correct way up has to be redone, like some tortuous tribute to Groundhog Day.

I’m writing this sideways because, lo and behold, it doesn’t seem to recognise that the iPad I’m using is on its side, docked to the keyboard - what must be an incredibly common use case. It’s been this way since the app launched over. A year ago. I’m just grateful the exclusive rugby right Premier used to enjoy have been lost so I don’t have to suffer this app anymore and can cancel my subscription.

WORST APP EVER USED!!! CRASH CRASH CRASH

This is my first time ever leaving an app review, but it is honestly the WORST app I have ever encountered. Considering they offer a subscription purely for their Premier Player service and not just a freebie associated with their TV service, the complete disregard for the iPad app is disgraceful. Putting aside the landscape/portrait issues that would normally be app development 101 and clearly shows the lack of care given, the app itself crashes constantly every 5 minutes when trying to view content. Its impossible to watch. This has been the case for over a year…just read the other reviews!! As a customer they blackout the content on any other service so it means you can not view the NHL games they show anywhere except here…but it’s not viewable! A complaint is also being logged direct to NHL so they are aware of the damaging service provided. It’s clear because you have a captive audience with no alternative except illegal streaming, you do not care about the service or the customer. I use my iPad for every service [netflix, prime, Disney+, etc etc) and not one issue…but this app…often even freezes the whole device so it can’t be turned off. Please just invest in fixing this, it’s been over a year and it’s ridiculous!
