I have my issues…
JakeCyhcy
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL APP. One of the best drawing apps, no adds, slightly worth the price and yeah. how people don’t like this? i am unsure. But i have my issues. So, basically i made a goofy little animation and decided to delete it as it was only a test. I select it, click delete and click delete on the are you sure message. Only one thing i would change would be show the artwork again on the are you sure message when the screen behind goes blurry. Next thing i know is i didn’t delete my animation. I deleted a stack of 82 images of people i spent ages each drawing. I go to restore them, but there was only two options in stuff to do. Restore example artworks, or restore corrupt artworks or something like that. Hours have now been thrown into a bin and gone. Not what i want at midnight. I would like it if there was an option to restore deleted artworks kind of like the bin on a computer. Secondly, is it possible on the create a pen stroke thing to change the shape to other shapes and not have to import an image because it would be nice for having squares and triangles. finally, this is not needed to be fixed because i feel like it is impossible and i am not as worthy of a person to just say fix this fix that, but when i fill in an object and then make another object inside and try fill it, it fills the one i am making something inside of too. Am i missing something? anyway, this app is really fun for making planets. However i would like my celebrity drawing folder back. But aye, at least i still have my Johnny Depps. I keep them in a separate folder.

Hi JakeCyhcy – thanks so much for your wonderful feedback and for the 4 stars, too! It's sad to hear that you accidentally deleted an important Stack of artworks instead of the intended animation. To safeguard your artworks we strongly recommend making regular backups of your iPad using either iCloud or iTunes (or Finder when you're working in MacOS Catalina or later), as well as exporting important artworks in the Procreate file format to a cloud service or computer. We recommend taking a look at How to back up your Procreate artwork (procre.at/handbookbackup). By default, you should have automatic iCloud backups active on your iPad. It is worth checking if you have a backup available that pre-dates the deletion by going to iPad Settings > Apple Account (tap on your profile) > iCloud > iCloud Backup. If you have one, you can run a full restoration on your iPad by following the steps listed by Apple Support (procre.at/restore). Any data included in that backup should be restored. Please be aware that this action will erase and restore your entire iPad, not just Procreate. We recommend exporting important files currently on your iPad, including canvases (in the .procreate format), custom brushes and palettes to a computer or cloud storage before starting the restoration. You might be interested to check out our roadmap (procre.at/procreateroadmap) which details what we're working towards for future updates; you'll be pleased to know that it includes iCloud file synchronisation. ❤️Have you tried adjusting your ColorDrop Threshold? When dragging your colour onto the canvas, keep holding down until a blue line appears on top of your screen. Now swipe left or right to adjust the ColorDrop Threshold. Also, open up your Layers panel and ensure that no layers are set to 'Reference'. Tap twice on any that have Reference written beneath their title, and toggle this option off in the submenu that appears.
Superb!!

Of course no apps are going to be PERFECT, but the next thing to it is always working towards it, which Procreate absolutely nails. There are millions (as far as I can see) of amazing tools on there, as well as complex animation, replay, distortion and so many other cool things. I recommend having a go at Sketchbook, which is free, first. If after 2-3 months you feel comfortable and happy with digital art, and you feel like you’re pushing the boundaries a bit and are looking for more (as I was) then go ahead. You might even earn the money back by selling artwork/brushes on Etsy etc. Yes, it’s £12, quite pricy, but if you think about it, you might spend that much on a good set of art pens or a few notebooks or something. It’s not a subscription, which unfortunately 95% of all apps seem to be, so you can properly OWN it. Plus, if you have an Apple Family Sharing plan, which is free, then you can share it with up to 5 people — which I do — without paying any extra. Also: To the developers, I saw you replied to so many other reviews which is great, well done for the amazing app. Just a couple of asks: 1. Could you add a few more options to the Liquify adjustment? I love playing with it SO MUCH, and it would be super cool to see even more! 2. I often group layers for big projects, and would like to be able to put a layer ABOVE the group and set it as a clipping mask ON the group. I don’t know if this is possible, but if it is, it would be really useful! Thank you!

Hey tartaresauce - Thank you for using Procreate and for sharing your suggestions with us. We have noted them down as references for future development. As we are actively working on bringing more features to Procreate, it is possible that they might get considered for implementation. 🤗
I use procreate quite frequently….
Flo!21
I use Procreate frequently as my digital art app, I have only used sketchbook before, I started using Procreate 1 year ago, I think it is sooo good and would recommend. The new update is amazing!!! And I say this is better and less complicated than other art apps: eg when I tried Clip Studio Paint, I got to grips with Procreate quite quickly, but you might be able pick it up and understand it more if you have used other art apps before. I also love that it is one time peruse unlike adobe. Animation assist you can only do short layers on the canvas so it is not the best for long animations, eg long video clips, unless you import a video and delete the layers so you are bound to have layers in your hundreds or to save time look at the size of your canvas in the video and make a new canvas the same size. I have seen a couple of people complaining about the layer per frames thing in animation assist or page assist and it is quite tricky but you can have separate layers in one frame If you use groups if you did not use groups your sketch, inking and colour layers would play like sketch then inking then colour, if use the groups system they would be all on different layers so you can change stuff around, but still have it play as one frame. Procreate is not perfect but I think it is a really good app to use over other apps!!! I hope you found this review helpful, but this is only my opinion, I would suggest looking at other peoples reviews as well!

Edited 4/5: Hey Flo! Thank you very much for your ongoing support for Procreate. 💚Hey Flo!21 - what a lovely and well-thought-out review! We appreciate your kind words about the various features, and we're very happy that you detailed for folks how to use Layer Groups to have multiple layers as one frame in animation. This will help people, so thank you very much! 😌
OK. We went too far. This update sharpens the corners of your Gallery thumbnails. It also calms down the height of Animation and Page Assist and fixes an issue in 3D painting where you couldn't import meshes without normals.
Remember that all your custom brushes are available in the Classic Library by pinching the brush panel, or tapping the Procreate Library title.
