Proton VPN: Fast & Secure 4+

I like the service pan device and covering ten devices is more useful these days than others that cover less. The app is easy to use, the “core” functionality is good but can cause issues with video playback although Proton notify you of this before switching it on…and it is easy to temporarily disable.
The battery consumption for “background processes” does however appear pretty high. 10% of my battery’s expenditure since the last full charge was towards Proton VPN. I suspect this may be owing to switching for the fastest service once connected…a neat feature but possibly the guilty party here.
It would not make me change, nor would I use an open vpn app at present, but on iOS 16 this is something to note of your device already discharges quickly.

If you are connected to a VPN with your device, increased battery consumption is expected because your device is constantly maintaining the VPN connection. However, this increased battery consumption should not be significant. Have you tried switching to the lightweight Wireguard protocol? Contact us through the 'Report an Issue' option in the app menu for help.

I have not benefitted in any way from from Proton’s VPN as it interferes and completely cut off my Local wifi connectivity, which was usually slow but us now null.
However, biggest problem lies with the snail-pace and incompetent customer service which has yet to effectively respond to and resolve my log in problems. I have exhausted all possible passwords that I used when I crested my email accounts but in vain and wen I try to reset my password, I am unable to fo that because and maybe foolishly I used a proton mail email as backup. I have explained my dilemma to the different Proton staff who respond to my emails for help, each asking me abstract questions like “when did you last use your email”? to which I have repeatedly explained that as the email accounts are quite new, I have not used them to send any emails other than receive some from proton.
I have provided concrete information of my bank account that I use to pay for the direct debit, and then when I told them that I would stop that if they do not resolve my email access, My VPN has since been mysteriously stopped working or disconnected even though my payment still rubs till 5th of July.
No one has yet been in touch with me…..
Not a decent way to deal with customer issues.

UPDATE: I do not know which update on the app broke it, or whether this is a backend service issue.. or even possibly iOS itself..but wanted to 'raise it' here Upon opening the vpn app cold start if you will, it fails to know I am a paid user and can only access the free servers, additonally all my profiles appear greyed out. I have to flick between screens and it feels like the app needs to pull fresh data down as it clearly is not doing it on opening it in the first instance. The is annoying to experience. So yeah 2 stars at the moment guys.

Previously:- Why only 4 stars? Because I want to encourage devs to improve it further. 1 place is the iOS widget. Currently only usable on left swipe to 'widget screen'. This is 🍎's page no one uses. However homescreen in line widgets I use and I think others do/would to. That would be great if this could be implemented. The other thing or alternative I would request is expanded shortcuts options. Currently you can only quick connect to your default profile. How about being able to create shortcuts to whatever saved profile you want? Thanks
