Fun way to get to know a city!

Interesting and unique way to explore a new city or somewhere you already live! The app could be a bit more clear (having the game you’re currently playing be more obvious and upfront instead of having to scroll and load it up again if you leave the app). We had a minor issue with the app telling us to go back to where we left off but the help centre responded right away and were super helpful, solved our issue without having to go back and we’re sorry we couldn’t thank them! I look forward to doing more quests in my future travels :)

Amsterdam The Golden Tulip (beta)

I have used Questo in several cities in Europe always with kids. Generally they have fun and it is a good way to see things you would otherwise miss (inscriptions on buildings, statues, artworks) and learn about a city.
The idea is certainly good and the range of tours is great. Most of the time you’ll have fun for a few hours and learn something interesting.
My only complaint is that the puzzles are sometimes either badly phrased or badly adapted to the platform. I think this might be especially true when a puzzle has been translated from another language. It’s a bit annoying to expend XP for a hint when you know the answer but not the exact way to phrase it for the game to recognise it. This happened a few times in this game - fair enough, it’s the beta test version and was free and I have emailed the designer with my comments. I have had it happen in paid games though which is a bit more annoying. I think the new update allowing you to switch languages during a game might help - provided you speak both languages or course!
I’ve never actually done a Questo in my home country to compare.
If you’re doing one with kids the timings can be much longer than the estimates. It would be good if they added a “playing with kids” option which allowed you to pause the game for toilet stops, ice cream etc. Obviously you couldn’t compete in the timed challenges but maybe I would get a few more XP.

A different way to discover places

Just completed my first quest through the app and it was a very positive surprise! I liked that I was taken to places I haven’t been before even though I lived in the city for years. It combines excitement, exercise and learning. The only downside I could mention is the small number of quests available in my city. Hope that changes in the future 😊
