Radiation Island 12+

This game is beautiful! I can play it for a long time without becoming bored. I love how easy it is to find and craft materials. I’m also guilty of watching a very realistic sunset. The sea itself is also beautiful and relaxing, strangely enough. Even though the setting is rather atomic.

The one thing that really bothers me is the fact that I keep accidentally harvesting my buildings or stuff I have created from materials. If there was some way that you could lock your crafted buildings or other crafted objects, stopping from accidentally harvesting your built crafts, that would be awesome. Apart from that, absolutely love this game!

I got this game a few days ago - I’m not usually into survival games (I got ‘Don’t Starve’ before, found it quite dull) but this is totally different and SEEMS really good fun. It’s quite exciting and gathering, finding, crafting equipment is really rewarding. The storyline is also interesting, I still don’t know what’s going on!

Anyway, the bad part. As other users have posted, the game crashes randomly for no particular reason. Each time this happens, it resets from scratch. The first time this happened to me, it was after a couple of hours of play...no big deal...so I just deleted it and reinstalled hoping this would fix the problem....nope....it did it again last night after hours and days of play. I lost everything. Really, really frustrating.

I’m now just going to play through on invincible mode to see what the story is and then delete it. It’s a shame. I won’t recommend this game; players can’t be expected to lose all their progress, it’s not acceptable.

Review Update: after playing this game for many many hours, and finishing it, it really is a 5-star app. Imagine DayZ mixed with some elements of the crafting from Minecraft and you'd be close to Rad-Island. The one thing that would make it even better is a Survival Mode where the 'zombies' didn't re-spawn... In other words, where you had to clean the islands to make them safe. This mixed with low resources would be a lot of fun! Go on developers, you know you want to! 😄

I downloaded this based on the Five Star reviews of others and I can honestly say, they aren't wrong! This game is an absolute gem and I hope Apple give it the credit it deserves when they review all the new apps on iTunes. The sandbox model is perfectly ported over to the iPad and the game runs smoothly. Learning curve is excellent and self directed play means you will become entranced by Radiation Island rapidly. I am now eight hours into it and feel like I have only scratched the surface. Hats off the developers, no IAP and the game is VERY fairly priced. At the moment, this is definitely one of the best adventure games on the iPad. Brilliant!
