Description
SafeSky is a real-time flight situation awareness for all pilots flying any type of aircraft.
This app is using your location in background mode so that your positon can be shared with other pilots of the SafeSky network while in the air.
Whether we pilot a paraglider, airplane, hot-air balloon, ultralight aircraft, … through SafeSky we contribute to the safety of all by sharing our position in the sky anonymously.
The application works both on the plains and in the mountains using the internet network in flight. SafeSky is greatly efficient in high-density areas such as aerodromes or certain traffic crossings and convergence points.

Better than nothing
Used this app on iPad mini 5 with data sim from Salisbury to Little Snoring in C42. Sat in P2 seat so free to play. I was mainly on listening squawk and this picked up most traffic. In particular approaching Benson where there was a lot of activity. Visibility was reduced due to inversion layer and I was able to warn pilot of aircraft passing left to right which set off alert and was looking in right place for visual. Downside is signal was lost for about 20mins. On return flight had signal but did not pickup an Osprey going into Mildenhall. On iPad you can have Skydemon and this app using split screen which makes it a useful tool in addition to number one eyeball.

Title “Notoverlyimpressed” is incorrect and from another app review. Trying to change it is a bit of a work up. I was impressed but it does have shortcomings when using mobile data.
Phenomenal
UK-based commercial helicopter pilot: bought this app to complement TAS and provide traffic cover in non-TAS airframes.
Relies on Wi-Fi signal so coverage is intermittent. However despite this, when it works, it’s more accurate than the aircraft TAS, also providing heading info on targets (further, you can click on the traffic and see who it is!).
I’ve had a number of occasions now where this app has ID’d traffic to me that has not been highlighted by either the airframe TAS or LARS (traffic service). Brilliant for sailplanes and transiting near to gliding sites.
I cannot recommend this app enough.
Be great to see a micro app overlay on an Apple Watch face too!!!
Overlay doesn’t function
Thought this sounded useful. Having a very small cockpit and limited space and having a limited screen size (iPad mini) payed the sub to enable overlay on SkyDemon/skyecho rather than having a split screen or extra hardware cluttering the cockpit . However this has never functioned for me 9months later, and hours wasted trying to get the thing working I contacted safesky through the forum as the only means of contact. Had an un helpful response asking me to watch the video and read the manual, does he think I haven’t done this numerous times?
Frankly all I can say is DON’T waste your money
