Description

From the developers of famous astronomical app Star Walk, winner of the Apple Design Award 2010, loved by more than 10 million users worldwide.

Ever wanted to observe the International Space Station crossing your sky or find out where human-made satellites are right now? With Satellite Tracker, you can easily find out where satellites can be seen from different locations in the world and get predictions for their passes.

MAIN FEATURES:

-> Tracking satellites in real-time
-> The most outstanding satellites with core info
-> Satellite flyby timer
-> Pass predictions
-> Hand-picked passes
-> The ability to set any location
-> Fly-with-satellite view
-> Satellite orbit over Earth

HOW TO USE THE APP:

Open Satellite Tracker, tap on the satellite icon in the upper right corner of the screen. You’ll see the Tracking List that contains two tabs: Tracked and All. In the Tracked tab, you can see satellites you’re following right now. It means that the app will always show you these satellites on the 3D Earth orbit and notify you about the closest passes. Add and remove items from this list easily by tapping on the “Track” or “Untrack” button.

In the All tab, the Main Satellites category goes first. All other satellites are divided according to their missions for easy search:

- Communications
- Weather & Earth Resources
- Scientific
- Navigation
- Miscellaneous
- Space Debris

There is also the Special-Interest category that includes the Last 30 days’ launches, the Space Stations, the Brightest satellites.

*** The ISS is available by default. Other satellites are available when subscribed. The app contains ads which will be removed when subscribed.

Subscription Information:

With a SATELLITES LIVE optional subscription, you get an instant ad-free access to tracking satellites live orbiting over Earth and in the sky, the timer for the next appearance, and alerts about the nearest flybys.

SATELLITES LIVE is a renewable subscription with 1-week FREE trial that gives you access to content from within the app on an ongoing basis. Payment will be charged to your iTunes account. At the end of each subscription duration (1 month), the subscription will automatically renew until you choose to cancel it and your account will be charged for renewal 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. Users can manage their subscriptions in their account settings on the App Store.

Best I’ve Seen Yet.

I have used a fair amount of Satellite Trackers in the past but in truth, nothing like the exceptional quality as this one is.

I studied Astronomy at Uni and my favourite part was Radio Astronomy and this app fits right in.

I know a fair amount of Satellite Radio frequencies and with this app, you can track all your favourites and if you have the right setup, you can hear them pass near by or overhead, whilst watching the pass on this app.

I am currently tracking 18 Satellites with this app and you can set notifications for when they are about to pass your location and watch the countdown of the AOS (acquisition) and LOS (pass ends).

I subscribe to this app, simply because I love it and also, the devs have spent a lot of time creating this.

However, there is only one thing I would ask the devs to consider. When you add/delete a tracked satellite, that it automatically updates the other apps if you have it installed on multiple devices. Either by iCloud or shared devices on network.

Thank you!!

Thanks for the feedback and remarks! We will definitely take them into consideration in future updates of Satellite Tracker, stay tuned ;)

Updated app impossible to manage

I used to love this app and was happy to pay for the subscription even though I never pay for apps. I could always find the satellites which said they were passing over and liked the notifications 5 mins before and when they were overheard. The notifications were automatic and I didn’t need to pre set them. With the updated app the sheer quantity of satellites is over whelming and 80% say not passing in 24 hours. It’s impossible to know which ones will be best visible in my location and which ones to track. You also now manually have to turn on alerts for each individual pass on each individual satellite, who has the time in their day to do this?! And furthermore you have to sift through hundreds of satellites to find those passing within the next few hours to know which alerts to turn on. Considering your paying for this app it now seems an impossible time intensive task to receive an alert for a satellite to know when to look. Very disappointed considering I used to love this app.

Developer Response ,

We understand your disappointment. That's why we introduced a separate category of satellites that will make your life easier. Tap the satellite icon in the upper-right corner and open the Visible category - it contains only the satellites that will soon be visible in your area. Choose the satellites you want to track and then set notifications for their passes. Hope you'll finally get used to how the app works now!

Beautiful and stunning...but only 14 satellites?

This app is so beautifully rendered. You can even see an amazing Aurora Borealis as you view your chosen satellite (all satellites rendered in 3D) as it speeds along its orbit, the surface of the planet and clouds equally impressively rendered below. But... there’s only 14 satellites available to view, out of the thousands of man-made objects currently orbiting the earth. Consequently, by the end of the week’s trial, I’m likely to have seen all there is to see. Other trackers track hundreds of satellites, and if this app did likewise it would probably be the most addictive app out there. As it is, with so few objects to track, it’s got a short shelf-life. Judging by the amount of time it’s taking the developers to perform even minor updates, I fear this app will therefore sadly remain a curio. Which is a crying shame, as it really is visually impressive.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We will take into consideration your remark.
