I have been using seesaw since I was in reception you can post videos and pictures. The teachers can send messages to you and your child. When the teachers send you home work online and it is drawing or writing you just tap the picture of a pen/pencil and it will come up with a colour palette for you to choose which colour you would like to use (you can change colour at any point) then it will say what tools you can use again (you can choose). Then you are ready to draw and write. You can also view the child’s work at school. You can also see the child’s class mates! You can also send comments or like other children’s work!
Infuriating app and totally useless
Nmekenkamp
Having used Seesaw since the start of lockdown, I am still frustrated by the fact that nothing is intuitive. I try to use pinch to zoom and draw lines on the content. Once you zoom in, in stead of being able to just use multitouch you have to use the little navigation box at the top. In order to write something, I always need to create a text box and make it fit and it is absolutely useless on a phone as you cannot see a thing and once zoomed in, the only way you can navigate is using the tiny box at the top. You cannot change orientation in order to make things more legible. Teachers complain that scanned documents and picture cannot be read. There seems to be no interest to improve the app as there has not been a single change or update for the last 9 months. Finally, why does it not save drafts? My son has a few times lost all of his work, just because he accidentally clicked on the back key. You don’t even get a message to say “do you really want to delete what you have worked on for an hour?” But it is just gone. I seriously hate this app.
Good
🤟🤟🤟🤣😉
I am a pupil who is using this in the corona home learning, and it is a great and simple app to do your work. But there are a few problems. Firstly, you can’t add a video straight onto a slide, which is annoying so you have to add it as a separate activity. Secondly, you can only have 1000 words in a text box which is sad. Also, the camera isn’t great on it if you want to take a picture or video straight from the seesaw camera. I would recommend using the normal camera app then just uploading it. Lastly, it glitches quite a bit which is annoying. But it is a well made app where you teachers can like and comment on your post and go straight into it to mark it. Simple app and it is where I have been doing all of my work for the last few months. I recommend it aside from the complaints. Sorry for the long review and I hope you have the time to read it. Update is a downgrade!

I’m a teacher and the update is far less user friendly. I am unable to upload pdfs directly from my phone to the app, before we were given this option. Now I have to log on to a desktop/ laptop to do this, this is extremely inconvenient and frustrating as we were able to do this before on our phones within seconds, at any time of the day. Also there is still no option to upload word documents- this should have been addressed. The message function is less user friendly and notifications of replies are not always showing up on the Home Screen. I had to send individual messages to each new parent so they could contact me back- previously an announcement would enable this. This was also time consuming.Several of my colleagues have also commented on how much slower the app is running. It’s so disappointing when an app that functions very well is changed for the worse!!
- Minor bug fixes and UI enhancements.
