Here is everything we packed into this massive update: The AI Went to Grad School: Friends are Not Food: Our AI finally learned the difference between a group selfie at a bar and a plate of nachos. Faces and people will no longer accidentally end up in your "Food" or "Drinks" categories. Squint No More: Just press and hold on any photo in the AI results to see it in full, glorious screen size. More Brainpower: The "Selects with AI" scanner now identifies three brand-new categories of clutter for you to clear out. Faster Sorting & Zero Anxiety New Albums on the Fly: Realized you don't have an "Italy 2024" album while you're sorting? You can now create brand-new albums directly in the app without losing your place. Deletion Anxiety = Cured: Terrified of the red delete button? We added a reassuring note to remind you that your photos safely sit in Apple's "Recently Deleted" folder for 30 days before vanishing. You can breathe now. Time Travel & Home Screen Bling The Time Machine Widget: We’ve unified our date-jumping features under the incredibly cool name "Time Machine." Even better, we built a Home Screen widget that randomly surfaces a memory from over a year ago. Prepare for nostalgia. Control Center & Live Activities: Added a quick-access Control Center timer and laid the foundation for Live Activities on your lock screen. Ghostly Guidance (For Newbies) The Friendly Ghost: New to the app? A cute, animated "Ghost" tutorial with bouncing arrows will now physically show you how to swipe. The "Don't Get Lost" Badge: If you back out of a review early, a pulsing "START HERE" badge will appear on the dashboard. We’re practically holding your hand. Under the Hood (Nerdy but Important) Buttery Smooth: We pushed all the heavy-lifting data saves to the background. You can swipe at Mach 5 and the app won't stutter. Battery Saver: We redesigned the dashboard so it only refreshes what you can actually see, saving your battery for more important things (like taking more photos we can help you delete later). A Visual Glow-Up: Cards now have perfectly consistent rounded corners, better spacing, and a much cleaner layout for comparing duplicates side-by-side. Iguana Representation: We renamed the "Pets" category to "Animals" for better accuracy. Jumpy Screens Begone: Fixed an annoying bug where the screen would jump around when switching views. (Note: We now require iOS 18.6 to keep things this shiny).

Bad news: if your most recent photo was a video, the app was stuck in a loop — loading 60 photos, deciding something was terribly wrong, and starting over every 4 seconds like it was allergic to progress. Good news: we found it, fixed it, and gently reminded the code that a library containing videos is not the same as a video-only library. The deck now loads correctly and has agreed to stop being dramatic.
