Description

Shift Keyboard is the perfect keyboard solution for your Apple Watch & iPhone.

*As featured on Cult of Mac, AppAdvice & iPhon.fr*

The Shift Keyboard app on Apple Watch provides you with access to a full keyboard so you can start typing messages to your contacts straight away - a great accessible alternative to Voice Dictation or Scribble!

As well as letters, you can also input numbers, symbols, foreign characters and emoji! If you prefer the more traditional input methods, then you can use Scribble and Voice Dictation directly in the app.

Shift Keyboard gives you the choice between a full QWERTY keyboard on one screen or a scrollable view with larger keys for more accurate typing! Switching between them is simple too.

Once you've typed out your message, all you have to do is tap the send button and you'll be redirected to the Messages app for sending to a contact of your choice!

If you don't want to use the alphabetical keyboard in precise mode then there is full support for both QWERTY and AZERTY keyboards too - simply edit your settings to change this!

For quick and easy access to Shift Keyboard from your Apple Watch, simply add the Complication to your Watch Face and you'll be able to launch the app at a raise of your wrist.

If you're enjoying the Apple Watch app, why not add the iPhone keyboard too?

Shift Keyboard for iPhone allows you to replace the system keyboard app with a slick and clean one! Shift Keyboard contains all of the letters a to z, numbers and a wide variety of symbols.

Full instructions for adding the keyboard or installing the Apple Watch app can be found inside the iOS app.

The Apple Watch app can also be installed separately from the App Store on Apple Watch.

I like it

This is a classic app that works around existing restrictions of Apple to give useful functionality to send messages. The restrictions noted by others review of this being a separate app on the Apple Watch are correct because that is currently the only way of doing it.

To be able type a message on then Watch to send a text is something that occasionally I want to do, but when I do want to do it, it will be because it is important and this allows me to do it better than Scribble. This is therefore well worth the 99p to me. Well done Adam - clever implementation to give some functionality that I didn’t think was possible.

At last... an Apple Watch keyboard 😀

I’ve been waiting ages to get some sort of keyboard on my watch and at last it’s here. It’s obviously a bit fiddly to use but I’m finding it way better than ‘scribbling’.

I had to restart my phone and watch to get the app to show up to install on my watch but I think this is an Apple bug rather than an app bug.

The developer replied to me with this solution within seconds of me sending him an email to ask what the problem may be so the support is fantastic.

For me, it’s 99p very well spent.

Not worth the buy. Worst 99p I’ve spent

On the phone you have to press EXACTLY on the keys which are really small and don’t let you press on the side of the keys like the normal keyboard.

Also what ISN’T mentioned is that you have to send messages on the watch via a different app and can’t be used in the actual messaging app so u are unable to read the text you have just received and u have to go onto a separate app and reply through that. The app doesn’t come with many customisations either and the keyboard doesn’t even fit on the apple watches screen.

ADDITIONALLY! The whole app runs slow and features like 3 pages were you test using the keyboard which is a load of whack. Also the Apple Watch version requires to you set it up urself and u have to restart ur watch for it to come up, this is not mentioned in the description. Overall not worth it and doesn’t even deserve to be on the App Store. I have given the FULL truth behind this.

Therefore, to summarise. DO NOT BUT

Developer Response ,

Hi,

Thanks for leaving a review! I’ll work on improving the iPhone keyboard.

Unfortunately Apple doesn’t support 3rd party keyboards on Apple Watch yet so this is out of my control.

Additionally, the installation issue is one that is faced by multiple developers with their apps. This is a bug that needs to be taken up with Apple if you are having it.

If you have any further suggestions I’d be more than happy to take them if you could email me at info@adamfoot.uk.

Thanks!
Adam
