Classic game but lacks PC Updates
This is a classic - and I am so thrilled that they have implemented it to this version. However, with that said the developers have avoided implementing patches which were put into the PC version years ago. (E.g. night lights for BAT) this is really disappointing because i think one of the key features of Simcity was the BAT systems.
One of the bad bits about upgrading to Catalina was the knowledge that I'd no longer be able to run my old 32-bit version of Sim City 4.
One of the good bits is finding out that Aspyr have updated the game to 64-bit, and it now runs perfectly on my 2018 MacBook Pro.
The graphics may look a little dated, but that's not the point. Sim City 4 is not easy. It's not The Sims. It's a city-building laboratory that rewards patience, and study, and attention to detail. In terms of sheer depth and variety of experience it's by far the best version of Sim City I have ever played. And I've been SC'ing since the SNES version in 1992.
There's still a lively modding community if you want to tweak the vanilla game (NAM 37 is just out in beta.) It can be a bit of a runaround to get mods installed on a Mac, and they can slow down the load of your first city when you launch the game. But for the most part they work, and they do enhance the game-playing experience.
Thanks Aspyr for updating this classic and involving game. If this doesn't get me through the lockdown, then nothing will.
Lived up to all my expectations. I had the game a long time ago and this is just like it, so much fun. I’ve nearly filled an entire region (30 + cities) with no faults other than one crash… no big deal. Graphics are good, runs good, all the same features as the origional + rush hour. Thank you very much!
