Philosophical
Love the animation and sound design, the points system is a nice touch. It’s just a game about a guy pushing a rock so don’t expect anything else. It would be cool to have different themes/landscapes, or some music that you could turn on. It would also be nice if you got to see the rock rolling all the way down the hill when you lose. Other than that, does what it says on the tin, keep at it Sisyphus, I’m sure you’ll get up the hill one day. “One must imagine Sisyphus happy”
Great concept, not so great execution.
Long story short this game has the potential to be really cool, the concept is excellent and if you’re someone like myself who enjoys a challenge, hates losing and is too stubborn to give up you would find yourself spending hours playing this title trying to best your previous score. However that’s where the problem lies, bad mechanics and technical issues (crashing etc) would prevent you from being able to do so. I didn’t play for very long but even in that short span my game crashed 3 times which makes absolutely no sense for a game of this size and it isn’t a hardware issue either as I regularly play Diablo on max settings, also the game has responsiveness issues which are a very big deal for a game like this and puts you off playing it because it feels broken. If your taps aren’t being registered when you do them you cannot go very far at all in the game therefore making it impossible to play as intended. If these issues get fixed then rating would most definitely be at least 4/5 but as of right now the game is pretty much unplayable. Thanks and say hi to the wife and kids for me, cheers for reading.
A stoic’s pastime
With elegant, minimalist animation and a deceptively simple control, this really captures the spirit of the myth of Sisyphus. It starts off almost achingly slowly as you idly tap the screen and watch Sisyphus roll his rock up a gentle slope. By the time you reach the snowy peaks you are fully focused on the timing of the push and step, wondering if you can just get that little further, maybe see the peak, maybe even get over it.
But no. For me, pushing Sisyphus and his rock any further than the first few steps of snow could well be impossible. But I’ll keep trying.
