Terrible application - AVOID
UNLIKE GOVEE’s app this one tracks and collects your private and personal data I own a few Govee lights - some came with my house and I wanted a ‘warm white’ lamp so went for that brand again. Their IPhone app is pretty good. I wondered if there was an iPad app which is how I stumbled onto this one.
Bear in mind the Govee app is free, supports a massive range of features, has zero adverts (the correct number of adverts one should see, world) AND NO USER TRACKING. Whereas THIS APP is tracking and collecting your private user data, they keep nagging you with some weird as hell paid subscription service when you want to try changing the colours of your lights. That’s just pathetic. Why are they trying to get repeated monthly payments from us just to change the colours of our lights? Why is their app incredibly limited. Who would ever buy this over the Govee app?

absolutely hopeless. Now, this is a smart lights app right? So, lights are useful to those with limited vision right? as well as people that just want to control their light from a seated position. So why then, is the app not accessible to low vision users? Are they not entitled to smart lights? Don’t they need lights as much as anyone else? They need lights more than most as a matter of fact. yet, most of the buttons aren’t labelled. they con you in to subscribing to something that doesn’t work for everyone, they don’t explain anything in an accessible way. The app is utterly hopeless to anyone using assistive technology and I suspect the developer doesn’t even care. I know i won’t be subscribing to it if the app is not improved. You can use your smart speaker which is voice controlled. Yet the app doesn’t even have that feature. Utterly unimpressed.
Appalling
You’d think that at the very least, the limited version of this app would allow you to have some basic control over the light such as switching it on and off (it doesn’t have a manual switch) or changing the colour. But no - any attempt to do anything reverts to the subscription option and/or requires additional peripherals and expense. It’s a light that does nothing without extra payments bending made.
