Description

You can use this app as you explore St Barbe Museum.

The app contains information about the local history of Lymington and this part of the New Forest Coast. The Highlights Trail uses 10 objects or images in the museum to introduce various topics important to the local area.

All the content can be accessed manually by clicking on the different sections. There are old photographs, maps, letters and much more. Most of the sections of the Highlights Trail include short audio reminiscences from people connected with the area.

You don’t have to be in the museum to access the information. However, if you are in the museum you will be able to tap your phone against ‘smart panels’ positioned around the building and this will take you directly to relevant content in the app.

The app also uses Location Services and Bluetooth Low Energy to help determine your location when the app is running in the background. It will trigger notifications when you are close to a location of interest. We have used GPS and Bluetooth Low Energy in a power-efficient way. However, as with all apps that use location, please note that continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
