Sudoku.com - Number Games 4+

This is a great app and I’m pleased the developer seems to read and act on reviews (for example I’m very happy I can now turn off the statistics message). There are 2 other things I’d like to see fixed please. 1. Highlight Duplicates doesn’t highlight them clearly enough and can be hard to notice. At the moment it turns only one of the duplicates red, so I don’t always spot it. It should turn BOTH duplicates red, so it’s more obvious. Please fix this! I keep missing it. 2. If I clear stats for a difficulty level, it should fully clear the game’s memory of me playing that level and not just the stats page. At the moment, if I play 10 games and clear the stats, then play another game, it still counts it towards an unbroken streak. I want ‘clear stats’ to mean ‘forget everything I’ve done on this level’. Please act on this feedback - don’t do the annoying thing where you tell me I have to email you before you’ll act on it, please just fix it!

I’ve always loved sudoku, and I’ve always been fairly good, and nowadays you don’t exactly get the luxury of having a sudoku book and your favourite pencil. I love the app; it’s really easy to use, great interface, love dark mode. And all the different difficulty levels seem fair. However (and this is a big however). I think the “3 mistakes max” rule is a load of trash. Yes, I get that they have to earn money through adds, and once you’ve made 3 mistakes, you get the option of having a second chance by watching an add. I’m in full support of add revenue for a good app. But sudoku is about making mistakes. Traditional sudoku is thinking you have a square or the first three squares right and only finding out 2 squares later that you’ve messed up somewhere in the beginning. I feel like it would be more punishing to let the ‘player’ complete the entire puzzle, regardless of mistakes, and then at the end count how many mistakes there are, but don’t tell the player what they are, thus they are forced to restart. I don’t know; just a suggestion. But I’ve found that my mistakes are more often than not caused by a slip of the finger and inputting the wrong number even though I know what is actually the right number. Call it a silly mistake, sure. And yes, I do make genuine mistakes, but maybe don’t limit them to 3? Other than that, I genuinely love the app.

Was a great app before update 1.5.0 in February. Changed the style and font type, plus holding down the number to highlight the one you want to repeatedly use is now slow and clunky (annoyingly so). In addition, when trying Expert to build my skill, if I use “hint”, it now asks which cell I want the answer to….I don’t as I won’t learn anything. Poor “improvements” in the eyes of a paid up customer. Having just read some of the other recent reviews, I have no doubt I’ll receive the exact same dry response from the developer about going into their website for tips. I don’t want to log onto a website mid game 🙄 UPDATE: Reduced to two stars. Received a message to my original review stating that they were disappointed by my review and to email them directly, with the suggestion of looking forward to my response….so I did …received a ridiculous email in return as to all the other responses they put on here. Why as me to contact you if you’re just going to continue to fob me off??? Not only taking the enjoyment out of their game but wasting my time too…thanks! Biggest bug bare on tips is “these cells are filled out incorrectly”, when they’re not! If you pay for something and the service breaks through designer fault, in many instances they’re at liberty to fix or refund…will I be refunded for a increasing poor app???
