“A versatile mobile song sketchpad.” – Electronic Musician

“Tremendously easy to use.” – Engadget

TOP FEATURES:
• Kickstart your creativity with inspiring built-in loops and beats.
• Sound like a superstar on your phone’s built-in mic.
• Feel the groove. Stay on the beat. Keep in time.
• Add new parts. Double them up. Create harmonies.
• Build your tune and flesh out your ideas with three tracks.
• Polish your tracks with built-in effects, mastering and more.
• Subtly tune your voice to stay in key or go full-on robot voice with Voice Tune.
• Open an audio file and add your own voice to become the star.
• Share your recordings to social, email, AirDrop and other apps.

Take combines drop-dead simplicity with features that are custom-tailored for vocalists. Record harmonies along with your voice, blend in effects to sweeten the sound and sing along to an array of beats and rhythms. Take is the ultimate voice memo sketchpad for capturing your musical ideas.

Note: Take is optimized for the built-in microphone on your iOS device. To eliminate feedback and hollow-sounding tracks, wearing headphones is recommended while recording. Best results come from using headphones without an integrated microphone, and recording directly into your iPhone/iPod/iPad.

Public beats/tracks aren’t available to use anymore

Very happy to find this app in the App Store again. But I’m disappointed to see the (extra) beats/tracks made by the public have disappeared..

App won’t import from Reason mobile app

I really like this app (and Reason Mobile)and I’ve always enjoyed using it - when I realised you could import your own beats made in Reason Compact I thought that would be fantastic but for some reason, import “error” message comes up on my iPad and iPhone & I cannot import a reason beat into the Take app.
No reply from Support which was a shame also. I get the feeling maybe this app is being neglected somewhat. .?
It would be fantastic if you guys could get this fixed because as far as I know this is the only app in the App Store that lets you comp vocals to your own beats on the go in such a simple way. It can be done in AUM but it is a bit fiddly and with the UI being black makes it difficult outside when you’re walking et cetera. please keep going with the take app as it is a brilliant too for mobile songwriting. :)

It’s a shame really

It was great but now it’s just a chance for people to collaborate. If you write something the only way to get it off your device is to share it with everybody which is not good for a songwriter. There isn’t way to get an idea off your phone or transfer it to your iPad for further work..... Well there might be but there is no help file and no instructions that I can find.

They turned a really good idea for getting song ideas down into a toy. I guess it’s the internet philosophy of make something so more people click it , share it and like it rather than it just being a really useful good tool.

It’s still okay for recording but it will not ever get off the device you recorded it on unless you want to share the idea with the community. Maybe there is a way to do it but with no obvious help file how would we ever know.

I really wish they would add functionality to, not upload it, but to email or export to your phone instead.

Developer Response ,

Hey, thank you so much for taking the time to write a detailed review of Take!

Just wanted to let you know that you can always decide to just share with yourself by turning off the "Anyone can see this" setting in the Drop dialog. That way you can decide to share your piece with the community later or not at all.

Maybe you saw that feature already, but it's clear that we can make a better job showing how that works.

Thanks again!
