Description

Teen Counseling lets you connect with a licensed therapist who specializes in helping teens like you. Whenever you need and wherever you are, just text your therapist or schedule a video or phone call. Your therapist is here to help you thrive!

HOW DO I START?
Invite your parent(s) to sign up. They fill out a consent form for you (required by law)
Once your parent subscribes, you will be matched with a licensed therapist and invited to your own confidential therapy room
Your therapist will communicate with you on the Teen Counseling app using text, phone, and video

WHY DO I NEED PARENTAL CONSENT?
As required by law, a parent or legal guardian must fill out a consent form before you can receive online therapy services.

HOW DOES THERAPY WORK?
You and your therapist will get your own secure “room.”This will be your private place to communicate day or night, 24/7. You can access this room from any internet connected device, wherever you are. Your parent will not have access to this room.

You can write about yourself, the things going on in your life, ask questions and discuss the challenges you’re facing. Your therapist will login to the same room and respond with feedback, insights and guidance.

Together you’ll work towards making a positive change in your life, accomplishing your goals and overcoming your troubles.

IS WHAT I SHARE WITH MY THERAPIST PRIVATE?
You can talk to your therapist about anything, but there are a few things that they would be required to share with either your parents or other adults. If you share any of the following issues with your therapist, they would have to break confidentiality for your protection or the protection of others:

• If you are seriously contemplating severely harming yourself or someone else.
• If you share with your therapist that you are being abused or neglected, or know of another individual under 18 who is being abused or neglected.
• If you share with your therapist that you know of an elderly person who is being abused or neglected.

Please consult with your therapist about what kind of information and updates your parent(s) may get regarding your work with your therapist.

WHO ARE THE THERAPIST?
There are over 4,000 therapists on Teen Counseling, each with at least 3 years and 2,000 hours of hands-on experience. They are licensed, trained, experienced and accredited psychologists (PhD/PsyD), marriage and family therapists (MFT), clinical social workers (LCSW), licensed professional counselors (LPC), or similar credentials.

All of our therapists have a Master’s Degree or a Doctorate Degree in their respective field. They have been qualified and certified by their state professional board and have completed the necessary education, exams, training and practice.

It’s a therapy app

It’s a quality app. Many, many licensed therapists are available, you have the opportunity to explore and find one that suits your personal needs. I think most people that give it a 1 star review are forgetting that this is a service that offers REAL therapy.. (which is known to be somewhat costly.) parental consent is also needed for obvious reasons, everyone registered is a minor. If you’re looking for a service where mental health professionals are willing to listen and help for FREE... good luck

Rude and overpriced

I am 15 years old struggling with mental health and my mum paid to get me onto this app, the first session i had messaged them and it took 10 minutes to reply each time and each said the same thing which was why do you feel this way and such and i’m sorry. Next session the connection across was not very well due to me being in england and the therapist being based in the US and she ended up messaging me instead very rudely and not even verbally organising another date with me. The next session i missed because i was anxious of this exact therapist and i could not trust her with what i wanted to say; my mum decided to cancel the subscription which was extremely overpriced and regarding the missed sessions my mum never got any money back and i got kicked out of the account to not even attempt with another therapist. My therapists name was Angel, not sure about her second, but i advise you to not pay so much money for an app which will most likely worsen your mental state.
