Have to agree
I like many others have waited with anticipation and baited breath for the next instalment of The Room. And I agree it’s a little easier than the previous ones and the first was the best in terms of originality. But this latest chapter doesn’t fail to deliver, however it does it slightly differently. There’s more of a story to this rather than a treasure hunt feel. And there are more cut scenes to tell that story. Some of the puzzles feel a little lacklustre but is that because we are used to how these games work and click now? I’m not sure. But I am sure that this is another beautifully crafted game, a wonderful way to pass the time thoughtfully and challenging the old grey matter. Sadly my old iPad 3 can’t download this so I’m going to have to invest in more up to date technology if I want to see this is all its glory on anything bigger than my phone. The graphics in this series are absolutely breathtaking, the best I’ve yet to see on modern games. The play is always interesting and makes you think and these are obviously the result of lots of love care sweat and tears that have gone into them. Thank you guys, another one that I won’t be deleting!!! *** PS - room fans - try the House of Da Vinci if you’ve not already got it, another wonderful time waster and the game play is based on The Room***
Such a pleasure
Wonderful! The general approbation of your reviewers is truly deserved. The game is sensuously elaborate to an unusual degree, giving tremendous pleasure with its beauty and ingenuity. Manipulating the locked furniture or the hydraulic machinery somehow becomes an aesthetic end in itself, but the overlapping clues and acquired objects give the puzzling an overall impelling element of quest that is totally addictive.
My only demur is the quality of this "story." When Myst first came out the puzzler's restless quest to explore every inch of the island and to solve its mysteries was accompanied by the gradual unfolding of a real "story" that actually engaged in a revolutionary way with you as the puzzler, making you believe in it and feel it to be important and not merely a Gothic piece of window dressing, and culminating in the painful moral choice of deciding which brother to believe. If you made the wrong choice, you were locked in the game for ever! I think the quality of The Room would be improved if the situational and narrative elements were given priority at the stage of sketching out the scenario. It would provide an extra dimension of involvement. However, the game survives beautifully in its own pace and ingenuity, with many moments of laughter or flinching or well-earned self-satisfaction at the moments of success. Thank you!
Excellent game...very enjoyable...good value entertainment
I have just completed the latest in this series of excellent Room games. The developers have managed to keep all the magic and gameplay of previous Rooms but still managed to make the puzzles challenging and satisfying to solve. Some of the puzzles seem a little easier than others and I do have to resort to hints on a couple of occasions but if you've played the previous incarnations then you'll get the hang of this one quite quickly. Overall I'm sad that I completed it but hopefully the developers will continue with this style of game as it works brilliantly on the iPad especially. £5 well spent and by comparison to a lot of the software on here worth every penny. I only wish other developers could break away from the stupidly expensive in app options that some games require to play. I for one will never download games that require cash injections to complete etc. Pay once at a sensible price and enjoy the game...well done to everyone who helped create this series of games they are exceptional and beautiful to play and look at.
