With your help, the Treekly Forest is set to rapidly reach our first target of 5 million trees.

Fantastic Idea

It was worth hanging in there while some bugs were ironed out! Have created both a family and a work group where we can motivate each other to not only get more steps in, but also plant trees together. I have now upgraded my plan so every day I do 5,000 steps a tree gets planted. That’s a great motivator for me to get moving - and manageable despite having a desk job.

I’m hoping that in future developments we will have a chance to update our impact score so it is tailored to the individual (I drive a fair bit but haven’t flown on holiday for years for example). I plant trees elsewhere as well so overall while I have a negative score in the app, I’m probably doing alright. Hopefully I can swing that score around with daily trees!

I recommend this app a lot - it generates a lot of interest as we all genuinely want to do something, and this is good for health and planet. If you aren’t sure whether to download or not, do give it a go!

Just not hitting the mark

I previously left a slightly higher rated review, but after using this app for a few weeks now it’s time to drop that.
I love the idea of this app, but it’s just not hitting the mark for a few reasons.
My “impact” score is jumping all over the place with no explanation. It got to -4 at the end of last month, then dropped right back down again. Over the past few days it’s been -50, -40 and now down to -61. All the while I’m hitting my 5k a day so I can’t see any logical reason for it to drop further.
I also spotted in the small print that the only way for me to become climate positive is if I buy an upgrade for about £4 a month. I know that app developers are in this to make money, but if I can’t get climate positive without spending cash, where’s the incentive to get people really using the app? I wouldn’t have a problem if it took a long time to get climate positive without paying, but that’s not an option.
Finally, the lack of an interface with other apps like Garmin is a big problem. I get that it’s coming and that’s great, but for now that makes it a pain to use as I’m having to manually enter steps into Apple Health to get it to record my 5k. The link between Garmin and Apple Health is the issue here, but it is reducing my enjoyment of the app quite dramatically.

Developer Response ,

Hey there, if you could send us an email at team@treekly.org and we'd be happy to look into the fluctuations in your impact score. We want to see as many trees planted as possible, that's why we offer the free trees earned through the Treekly Challenge. However, for those people who wish to become climate positive, we naturally need to capture more carbon and hence plant more trees. We recognise there is a big demand for integration with existing activity trackers and are working hard to get this done quickly. We appreciate your patience while we get these up and running. If you have any other feedback for us, we'd love to hear it.

False steps

The ability to input your own steps should be removed. I’m seeing examples of people inputting more steps than marathon runners would cover. You don’t do 40,000 steps in one day walking a dog for 30mins 😂
